congrats!
yay! congrats
Congrats! What time were you accepted if you don’t mind sharing? I am still waiting for my decision!
I would not put too much emphasis on just your GPA because they view applications holistically. My GPA was under 3.6 and I did not think I had a chance amongst other applicants, but still applied anyway (I proved myself wrong) and put more effort into my essay. I feel that the essay is really important in the sense that they want to know what you are passionate about which reveals who you are outside of your academics, and what you care about. In my essay, I mentioned a program within Gallatin that I was excited about applying to and tied it in with why I was applying to NYU. Additionally, I added all my volunteer work, job experience, honors recognition in the application to show that I was active in my community and challenged myself academically. It generally shows that you would take advantage of the opportunities that NYU has to offer. I hope this makes sense and helps in any way. I wish positive results for you!
I got the email at 11:30 am, on the west coast!
Thank you so so much!

did you have any updates to your portal? like was your app update button gone
Hey! I hope this is helpful
I applied to Gallatin regular decision my senior year of high school with a composite 34 ACT, One long-term internship, solid letters of recommendation, four years of sports for two seasons, Started a club And was involved and a few others, and my school did not do GPA or class rank so I’m not sure what my GPA would’ve been but I can tell you that I tanked freshman year but pretty much got all straight A’s for the next three. I ended up being waitlisted at the time (for class of 2024) but eventually got in but ended up going somewhere else.
I just got in today again for spring transfer. Freshman year of college I got a 3.8 from UCLA, Dean’s honors list one semester, not many extracurriculars in college to be honest but obviously the same composite ACT from before, etc. this year I took the fall quarter off, I moved to New York and have just been working for a few months. No crazy internship just work retail. I honestly had pretty much the same vision when I applied the first time and chalked up to me not deciding to go The first time around has me picking a more traditional college and realizing that wasn’t what I wanted.
Let me know if you have anymore questions, I hope this was somewhat helpful but for Gallatin specifically it just feels like they want to see that you truly have a vision of what you wanna do. Obviously credentials are really important but with Gallatin specifically I think it’s also about having a passion for some thing and wanting to enact change in some type of way or be a leader in your field — It feels like a essays and demonstrated interest in effort in whatever you are interested in creating there is really important for Gallatin
I completely agree with you. Gallatin specifically feels like they want to know who you are as a person in a holistic way because ultimately that’s the type of student that they want. In general college admissions are going to ask you to be a while rounded person if you want to be competitive but I think this is especially true for Gallatin. I think it’s just smart to lean into what you love and what you know you’re good at because that’s showing them that you were able to differentiate yourself from a normal path at focus in on what you’re passionate about
