I am an International applicant.
School scores: 1st Semester: 84%, 2nd Semester: 90.5% (when converted to GPA would be around 3.62/4)
ACT: C28 E27 R28 M28 S29
Extra curricular:
3 internships, 2 week debating course in UK, Organised & participated in a lot of business/entrepreneurship related competitions as, IAYP Bronze award
common app essay and the supplementary NYU essay both are really good.
Do I stand a chance? Stern ED2 and a few other universities like UC Berkeley, UMich, USC, CMU.
I think everything in my application shows my interest towards the course I have selected- management. The internships, competitions I participated in, the courses I have taken in high school (Commerce, Economics, Accounts)
Also decent amount of community service, a decent counselor reco + 4 teacher recos (2 for NYU since they dont permit more) + a reco from the company where I did my internship.
Considering your GPA/Test scores are fairly low for Stern standards, on top of your international status, I’d say it’s a reach, but you never know! Your ECs seem very business-oriented so that may boost your chances slightly. I’d say Berkeley Haas, UMich Ross, NYU Stern, CMU Tepper and USC Marshall are all low to mid reaches. You’d have a better chance of applying to CAS or the equivalent arts and sciences colleges to these schools. Good luck!
I think your act is is really low for stern, even for NYU in general because the 25 percentile for NYU is about a 28 and stern definitely have a higher standard than all other NYU schools. Plus u are an international applicants and by the IAYP award I would assume u are Indian? Asian international kids all have really high scores and good ECs too. Did u choose for CAS or LSP for second choice? I think even with CAS 28 is too low I personally would be worried. For Berkeley, consider it when u at least have a 30 overall
My school score of 90.5% is well above class average (which is 73.45%)and not too far from the highest in class (97%), I’m not really sure of how I should convert my scores to GPA (I just divided my score by 100 and multiplied it by 4)
Also, all of the above universities are reach, but what about Emory, BU, UCLA? I got wait listed by UIUC, and I believe all of the above universities are of the same stature as UIUC, so then maybe I have a decent shot?
I chose College of Arts and Sciences for second choice.
thank you so much
edit- I did not send my 2nd semester score to UIUC, got wait listed with my 1st semester score.
UIUC is significantly easier to get admitted to than these other schools. I’d say every one of the colleges you listed is a reach, except possibly BU. Also, an 87.25 average is not a 3.62; it’s more around the realm of a 3.2-3.3, and you don’t only calculate this year’s scores; you need all of them from high school.
UCLA really care about test scores and it’s not as holistic as NYU so that’s definitely a reach too. And sorry to say this but just like addreamer said UIUC is the easiest school in your list to get in and if u get waitlisted for that, I wouldn’t put too much hope except for BU which I think u have a shot of getting in BU. But also note that BU had an average act of 31
And I Don’t know why I think all other universities have the same stature as UIUC because they are not… I have a 31 act and I don’t think that’s good enough for UCLA
Can someone chance me? I applied to Stern and CAS as fallback.

@dididoenough Please don’t jack other people’s threads.
On that note, your ACT is slightly below/at the average, your GPA/Class rank is good enough, and you have a really good course load. Your ECs look fine as well, as there are some business-oriented ones. Just note that religious/family volunteer work/employment is nowhere near as strong in the eyes of admissions officers of most schools, unless you’re applying to a religiously affiliated college. Overall since you have an about-average application to be accepted into the school, your chances should be a solid 50-60%, so high match/low reach, assuming you applied EDII. If you applied RD I’d say it’s a mid-to-low reach, just because of the strength of applicants to Stern for RD.
