Hi! I am a junior and considering business school for college. Specifically, I'm thinking about NYU Stern. I was wondering what are some good extracurricular to pursue this summer. I'm thinking about interning for a day trader. Any other ideas?

enjoy your summer like i did

i got into stern last week. didn’t do any of that sort of thing haha

one of my friends got into stern ED2 this year and had absolutely no business-related extracurriculars. all she did was dance, and some simple volunteering at a local hospital over the summer. I think stern may be heavily stats/essay based, or at least those factors can compensate for a weaker resume. then again, she may be the exception to the rule, who knows?

It seems that the consensus is that NYU Stern is primarily a numbers game. Anyone else want to confirm this?

I was accepted to Stern ED2 with 1650 on the SAT (I’m an international student with an average GPA). I just had very good business related ECs I guess.

Can you find internships during the summer ? At your parents’ job or at someone else’s ? You can also try to join many different clubs in your school to show you are very open minded and open to trying new things (I tried to do new things every year: that allowed me to see that what I really wanted to do was Business, and not something else like journalism, directing,…). Good luck!
