Nyu stern

Hey guys,

As an incoming IB senior who is super interested in getting into Stern, I'd like to know a few things before I fire off the ED application on November 1st. I'm mostly interested in the numbers most appreciated by the admissions as I've visited the campus and experienced the 'community' already - I'm definitely head over heels for Manhattan. Now a little background on my academic career so far.

I currently study in the British School of Manila in the Philippines and I'm in my last year of the IB Diploma (the only thing it has taught me so far is how to make ******** smell good). I've made sure that throughout these past two years, especially, that I've made a strong case out of my extracurriculars which is further reinforced by IB's CAS program. These include international MUN conferences, varsity and national sports teams etc. I went from being a failing truant with a 48% attendance rate to being in the top 10 achievers in my cohort with a IB score of 38 (without the bonus.) There's a long personal backstory which I won't bore you with but the point being that statistically, my grades have improved ten-fold. My SATs are around the 1900 to 2050 area and I'm confident in the personal statement I have ready.

I guess my concern is whether or not Stern would consider my academic resume competitive enough to admit me for Early Decision and if so, whether they'd reconsider the offer by requesting my actual IB grades after having received my predicteds. Is there anything else I should be trying to strengthen? I should add that I'm not confident that I'll be scoring a 38 for my actual IB exam ergo what would be a safe minimum for me if that's a concern. Whatever tips and advice you Sternies have for me will be greatly appreciated because my head is about to burst since my entire for-seeable future rides on the next 6 months of my life.

Please and thank you.

Not too familiar with IB Program but those SATs are way too low for Stern. Most Stern students have 2200+ w/ many having 2300+. I would retake SATs as soon as you can. Also you haven’t posted a GPA but your academic transformation may be well received if there is a good story behind it. Boost stats before applying.
