So I’m thinking of getting myself a new laptop for when I start college… but I can’t really decide whether I should get a Mac or a PC. What do you guys in NYU use? Any recommendations?
When we toured the dorms, we saw that they have Macs available everywhere. We asked some of the kids at the welcome center and they said it’s fine to have Windows (this is what my daughter uses and likes).
I use a PC. Most use Macs, but I tend to find that a $1600 PC Laptop will outperform a $1600 MacBook. However, I don’t have an iPhone, and I probably would have opted for a Mac if I did.
Most students use Macs (myself included). I used PC prior to freshman year and was in the market for a new laptop, so I got a MacBook and find that I like it a lot better than a PC. It’s up to personal preference, honestly. The main thing is to make sure that your laptop will run well, not crash, and isn’t large and heavy (lugging a large laptop to class and the library will be hell).
Chromebooks are good for taking notes; they’re also relatively cheap compared to other laptops. If you’re getting an all-purpose laptop for both notes and more power-intensive streaming videos/gaming, I would second fedorable.
They have MAC all around but my personal choice will be windows system its easy with greater software options to play with.
