Did anyone receive their studio placement??? They said that they will send them mid-April but nothing here yet.
What's going on??

My S hasn’t heard anything yet either. Although he won’t be attending I would still like to know where he is placed.

Why would you want to know where he was placed if he’s not attending. Shouldn’t you have informed NYU that he will not be attending so that someone from the waiting list can be given a spot?

I agree with mommadrama. My daughter wants to know as well. Although she has pretty much made up her mind about which school in the US she will be attending, she is not ready to make that final commitment until she is totally informed. For curiosity sake alone, the students should have been informed of the placement. Waiting this long to find out seems unfair.

I would like to know because he worked really hard preparing for drama school and was accepted.

Well historically NYU informs of studio placements the day before visiting weekend, which would mean tomorrow.

Agree with mommadrama et al-- NYU is holding up the waitlist process for the whole BFA class of 2017 right now. Students have one month to make their decision, and 2/3s of that month has passed, with hundreds still waiting and trying to make plans.

I’m curious Actingmom and mommadrama, if your D&S were assigned a particular studio would that change their minds and lead to them attending NYU? And if so, which studio would that be?

My son is planning to attend NYU and he’d like to know too, preferably before Saturday on the Square that begins in just over 24 hours…

I remember feeling very frustrated as well last year. And I commiserate.
But if it makes you feel any better, the reason it takes so long is because it is something taken very seriously and not just picked out of a hat.
Every year people report that somehow, they seem to usually get it right. My daughter is thrilled in her studio, and it was not one she even considered.

It’s really the hardest for those hoping to get into musical theatre. There’s only one studio and there are easily over a thousand MT hopefuls.

I don’t understand what takes them so long. Of course it’s something that’s taken seriously but somehow they managed to get it done much, much earlier for years and years until recently.

Well my D has been patiently waiting to find out since being admitted in December. The wait is almost over. I’m sure we will find out by tomorrow

Good luck to all of you who are waiting for this exciting info. Hope folks get what they wanted for studios!

Researchmaven, his mind is pretty made up so I don’t think any particular studio placement will change it.

The placements are out.

How do you find out? I just went into application status and there was no change.

Found out by email

You found out and you didn’t say which one your daughter is in, researchmaven? Talk about a cliffhanger :)

My S was placed in the Stella Adler studio.

Nice write up on the NYU page about the studios:

My S is heading to ETW – quite appropriate for him, although I could have seen him in Atlantic or Strasberg as well. Maybe for advanced :)
