NYU (Tisch) Chances

Hey, I was just curious as to my chances for getting in as a transfer to NYU; if anyone on here could make an educated guess.
I currently attend the University of Kansas as a freshman
This semester my GPA should be 3.7-4.0 (too much left to be entirely secure)
My SAT was a 1550 (800 Math 750 Verbal)
My high school GPA was 2.9/3.26, was rejected as a freshman app because of this
My senior year in high schoo though I had a 4.2 both semesters
I'm only taking 14 credit hours this semester due to a huge academic advisement mixup, but 14 is fairly average here
My EC's in highschool were crazy including debate team captain for 4 years, ranked 3rd in the state 2 years in a row, and won the state championship senior year, along with student council, broadcast journalism, forensics, president of GSA
My college EC's are lacking, I go to meetings for a few clubs, and I'm starting up debate again recently

I'm applying to film/television production, but my portfolio is mostly paintings which they do accept. They said I passed the artistic review last year, but since then I haven't done a whole ton of creative work though. With exception to a 400 square foot mural done in 6 inch x 6 inch hand painted tiles, but that still hasn't been attached to the walls it's going on, so I don't know how to show them that.

I can't think of what other details might be relevant. So...yeah...thanks :-).

Nobody?
Nothing?
Ha.

Well, I don't think anyone can successfully evaluate you for the film program as the portfolio will probably hold equal weight with grades. If you were applying to CAS or similar college, I'd say you have a great shot. However, if you're taking 14 hours both semesters (assuming you're going to transfer out after freshman year), know that NYU typically wants 30 credit hours for tranfers with weak HS spots.

Basically, with your stats and a great collection of artistic works, you're going to be very competitive. Although, I have no idea how many students are accepted to the film program as transfers. But, there's always minors/graduate school :)

Best of luck!

Who is they? If you got through this first hurdle last year, what happened in your pursuit of NYU last year.

I agree with Twenty8, that equal or more weight is going to be given to your art. Most of her here are not in a postion to see it or make a judgement about it. Keep in mind it is going to be a very small group with very few if any openings for transfer applicants.
