NYU Tisch Chicago Unified Audition

Just wanted to say that my NYU MT/Acting audition at Unifieds was one of my favorites! Everyone was so friendly and interested in getting to know me as a person. The process was well designed. The dance portion was by far the best of all the auditions I have attended (on campus and at Unifieds). The Acting and Vocal Reps were great, too. I’ve always heard it was an excellent program, but now I am convinced! So glad I auditioned :D

I auditioned at unifieds too (monday morning if you were there)- and I also felt like the audition really impressed me! I liked the program before I came, but all of the representatives and the dance really made me love the program! Hopefully we will hear soon.

There are several other schools I loved at Unifieds, too, but I just really liked NYU’s audition process. Their reps and the other students at the artistic review were fun to talk with. My audition was Tuesday. Congrats on a great audition, too, gabbadabadoo. Yep, hopefully we will hear something soon.

Could you tell me a little bit about the dance portion, or just about the whole process? :)

Hi shannabeth7. Note that luvzthe8tre’s post is from last year.

I responded to you in the attire thread but to post the same info here: The “movement” requirements are something that is new this year. In previous years there was actually a dance section. Last year’s requirements were: “In groups, applicants will be taught two short combinations to assess their relationship to movement and their responsiveness to choreography.” It was a ballet combination along with something contemporary. So hopefully somebody who has already auditioned this year will respond to you. Last year by now there were a couple of NYU MT acceptances mentioned in the acceptance thread from NYU’s ED round. I haven’t checked this year’s list but if there are any on it maybe you can PM them and ask for specifics since time is really short for you. They have nothing to lose in helping you since they are already in and committed. Good luck tomorrow!
