Are external transfers even being admitted right now? I know there was that one person in this forum who was an external transfer to Steinhardt and got in, although NYU claims that from April - May is only internal transfer decisions, and then May - June is external transfers. This whole decision timeline is way too confusing.
i remember, when i was filling out the app it said “oh rolling basis starting april 1st” but on their website it says may-june. idk anymore lol
Hey Guys,
I am kinda late to the conversation, but I am very worried about my application. I have submitted the application before the deadline, on March 30th to be more specific. However, I did not receive any information regarding the NYU admissions portal. Is anyone having the same trouble as me?
please reach out to them! i got mine a day after applying on April 1st.
What doesn’t make sense is that people need to commit by May 1 and that has been the case for many years now. But in the previous years, they have always notified people in April. How does that work. Not to be pessimistic, there is something different about this admission cycle. Because of the test policy thing, applications have boomed. Northwestern used to notify early April but now they will be doing so in May and even Vanderbilt is going to be doing so in late April. I’m not one to panic but this is not looking good. Sorry for the negativity, just my thoughts
The May 1 deadline is for freshman. Transfers have the deadline set by each school.
Oh, im sorry for the confusion. But what I meant is that NYU most probably chooses their transfer class based off on the amount of people who choose to come to NYU. So, how do they know how many transfer students to take if they won’t know how many freshman will be attending.
Yes, I wonder about that as well but I would think they try to keep the class sizes somewhat balanced. So hopefully there are a lot of upperclassmen openings.
I myself am not sure how it works but I believe that transfers fill in the classes they matriculate not freshman (i.e. soph, junior, etc.)
i believe transfer applicants have their own pool. meaning they aren’t entirely considering along freshman students
@anniesiying It should not take this long to get the admissions portal information. Sometimes it takes a few days (like 3-4), but not over a week. I received mine the next day on a Saturday. I had a similar issue and then I realized my gmail was full and had to open up storage. Also check your spam. If you don’t see it, I would actually call on Monday.
@Cheesecake23763 Definitely more freshman applications have been admitted to schools this year because of the test-optional policy. I don’t think you’re being pessimistic, but I do think you’re making yourself overly anxious trying to dissect the patterns of admission. I don’t think you have anything to worry about, and it won’t speed up the process either. I hope we all get our admissions this month.
Hey,
So I was in a similar situation, if by any chance, do check your email id on the common app and make sure it correlates with the one you wanted the email to come on. The second thing, check your spam and promotion tabs, I found my portal id details in my spam folder. if you’re reapplying, then your details would go to the email you first applied with, even if you submitted a new email id (IDK why NYU/common app does that)
Have they released decisions yet?
not that i know of
Decisions are released on weekdays, and so far, it seems like only CAS students have gotten their decisions. CAS also just released their acceptance rate (a whopping 7%…), so I’m not sure if that’s telling of who can get in now or not, but my theory is they are actually doing it by school.
@nunaaa One person got accepted on here for Childhood education on like April 3rd. I think that might be Steinhardt (not too sure).
Wow what only 7%!!! I was feeling hopeful about admissions lol
has anyone who applied to MCC heard anything?
