NYU Transfer Thread - Fall 2010

@Marcosis ---- Congrats! We go to the same JC hahah

I am too scared to try the NetID thing and I’m 99.9% sure they haven’t made my decision yet anyway because I had to drop off some things on Friday. I had sent them my GED and my high school transcripts once already–they said they had them, then they said they had my GED but not my high school transcript, then they said they didn’t need the high school transcript just the GED but the file clerk on the phone saw it in my file and I was complete, then they emailed and asked me to send in another copy of my GED. So I brought it by in person on Friday and put it in the drop box since I was too scared to trust the postal service or the fax machines, lol.

But knowing that my app wasn’t complete until Friday (despite my sending everything in before April 1 initially!) means I highly doubt it’s gone to committee or anything yet, so…I’m still waiting. And hoping this anxiety won’t screw up my 4.0 when I go to take my last finals tomorrow!

@ hookedongtown: Haha yeah, I tried it a couple of days ago and it didn’t work. Whatever that might mean. :/

@ crust1054:

I wouldn’t be too worried about it; judging from a lot of the calls we made yesterday, NYU hasn’t come to a decision on a vast majority of the applicants. Also, the Net ID isn’t exactly reliable. Some people who have been officially accepted haven’t been able to access it, and vice versa, people who have been able to access it have been rejected.

On another note, I was accepted to another school literally 10 minutes ago. Perhaps this a sign from the universe to just chillax and sit tight about NYU…?

So, I was told twice that all decisions would be made by the 15th, but I just called today asking if my application was “all set” (hoping I would get a nice person to tell me if I am in or not) and they said my app is being decided on as we speak, and that I would have a decision by next week, which is later than they said.

Wow. Just wow.

@ octoberbay: why would they go through the trouble of making a net id for an applicant they don’t expect to admit?? lol

@ hookedongtown:

I’m not saying that you’re not in, but I’m saying don’t go just by that. I don’t work in the admissions office, so I can’t speak for them; I’m only relaying what’s been on these boards for years. There definitely have been people who could log in that later received rejection letters.

The only solid proof that you’re in is a letter from NYU (or a confirmation over a phone call, as some of these lucky people here have managed to obtain).

just got my package!!!

actually there’s a strange clause in there… :/

will update you guys as soon as i finish going through EVERY bit of it :D

Nyu (stern) 2013!!!

:D

all of us fall 2010 transfers should create a FB group!!! :)

(official) Congrats!

just got an email saying I got accepted! (:
it was actually a little strange, i was expecting to get the packet first like most people, and when i saw an email in my inbox from NYU i immediately thought there must be something missing in my application. apparently not – my acceptance packet actually just got in!

they even offered me to start Fall '10 abroad… apparently about 100 transfers do this, but i probably won’t.

exciting stuff!

(p.s., about the net id thing – i tried accessing that page a while ago and got a message saying only admitted students can do that – and i got accepted. so don’t freak out over something meaningless like that)

Congrats hookedongtown and lost!student!

@hookedongtown:

That’s a good idea. There’s already a group called ‘NYU Transfers,’ but it’s not very active. It would be nice to know some people going in, especially as transfers. If you do make that group, we should definitely say who we were on CC.

Congrats! Stats school and major? Are you international too hence the email?

i am international and i didn’t get any e-mail. just the acceptance package! :)

hookedongtown, and lost!student: Congratulations!!! That’s fantastic

Also @ octoberbay, thank you for the comforting advice

for those of you who got accepted, were you offered housing as well?

yes, i was offered housing.

I just called NYU and they said my decision was mailed on the 7th.

So I went to try my NetID and it worked! This means I was accepted, right?!
