NYU Transfer Thread - Fall 2010

So what is up with these net id things, if we haven’t gotten one yet we are rejected or what?

Accepted!!!

I called in and asked the nice admissions officer if I they had received my stuff (my transcript, etc.).

And then she said she had my admission decision right in front of her and that she was proud to inform me that I WAS ACCEPTED. She said my letter was on its way.

Good luck to everyone else! I’m sure you guys’ll all do well!

:D

damn, you were lucky enough to get a nice admissions counsellor! CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance!! stern or cas??

I JUST GOT INTO NYU! Big package in the mail, hurrah!!!

congrats Marcosis!!

what’s ur major and ur stats please:+)!!!

Ugh, I have called twice and have both times gotten fickle people. Maybe I will keep calling tomorrow until I get someone that tells me. hehe

@ Marcosis

were u able to create net ID
OR are you able to now???

Wow I called today and got major attitude… The last time I called they said that they should be finished sending out all the decisions by Friday or the 15th… Then I called this morning to see if a decision had been made on my application and the lady was like “no… you should hear back by June 1st.” And I was like … um… really? Because last time they said I should hear back no later than the 15th. And she said “WELL if you had submitted all of your material by the DEADLINE then MAYBE you would have heard back already so it’s YOUR fault for being LATE etc…”

OK lady please hold the phone because, 1st of all, it was YOUR office that lost my transcript when ALL of the other schools I applied to received it, EVEN WHEN I submitted all of my application material in the same envelope. Second of all, YOUR office failed to notify me that I was missing any application material. Obviously I did not say that… But I mean jeezus.

Same thing happened to me dude. I submitted my application stuff on time and they misplaced my HS transcripts which were sent on time. Because of their carelessness my app was completed end of April instead of on time. Plus most of the time I have called them, I have sensed attitude in their voices. But there are also some nice and professional people working there who will happily get the job done. Not even worried about a decision anymore since my app was completed so late. Will be attending Binghamton University if anything but would love to attend NYU which will be a dream come true. lol Best of luck to everyone! and congrats to the people who got in :-D

Same here. They lost my transcript, and were the only school to do so, so my app was not completed at the end of April. I still haven’t gotten a response.

I realize that the file clerks are hard-working people, and are CLEARLY understaffed–I don’t want to blame this on them. But this is a problem admissions obviously needs to deal with. The number of people on this thread whose transcripts were lost is insane. And even more insane–almost no one was contacted about it. If I weren’t on CC, I probably wouldn’t have ever called. Since the other schools had my materials, I didn’t worry about it. By the time my app was complete, they were already accepting people. Fortunately, I have other options. But I’ve been really horrified at how badly the admissions process has been handled.

Ditto. My app was considered complete at the very end of April, too, even if I submitted everything in person right on the deadline. They lost my transcript. I called today and was told that they have not yet come to a decision. It’s pretty ridiculous. I’m pretty sure if we called about app materials the week or two after the deadline they would’ve snapped back and said that they’re still in the process of filing and reviewing. And without any email notifications, nobody could have figured it out. CC pretty much saved us, and I feel bad for the thousands of other NYU transfer applicants who had/have the same problem and were not able to fix it in a timely manner (aka. before the beginning of May)… I really do hope they will be able to notify us soon and at the same time will give each application ample consideration.

gosh. i am sure they must mix something up. they lost my HS transcript and college transcript too. but i was lucky 'cause i sent them email to ask if they received all my materials. so i sent them another copy of the transcripts. but they should really handle the applications better

Wow, I feel so much better right now. I’m in the same boat as you people. All of my stuff was sent on March 16th and I called April 20th and they told me they were missing tons of stuff, which was magically found after a half hour angry phone call. I’ve been in touch with the Assistant Director in the admissions office since then and he said that I wouldn’t be penalized since none of this was my fault (they basically kept my app listed as incomplete for over a month when they had everything sitting right there in the file). Hopefully this is true, otherwise I may just have to kill myself.

It’s one thing if we don’t get in because of grades, but another if we don’t get in because all of our applications were “late.”

And @jimbo:

You probably got the same lady who told me my college transcript was missing when she was looking right at it.

Hahaha. As frustrating as this whole process has been, it actually does make me feel better to hear your stories and to know I’m not alone. I guess at this point all that’s left to do is wait and see. I wish all of us the best of luck though. In the meantime I hope we can find ways to keep ourselves occupied. I’ll be hoping for the best for all of us.

Thanks! Here is what I was accepted with…

 • History major and Religious Studies minor
 • 37 units of straight A’s at a good junior college in Santa Rosa, CA. I had 12 more units of straight A’s signed for my midterm reports, so basically 50 units with a 4.0.
 • I never took a language in college (I did take 3 years in high school however), nor trig or calculus, which I thought might count against me but I guess not! I took six history classes, Nature of Mathematics, Pysch, Sociology, two Anthro classes, English 1A, Art History, Philosophy with Critical Thinking, Astronomy, Linguistics, and Comparative Mythology.
 • I don’t really know how to evaluate my essays, but they were at least average to good.
 • EC’s: I’ve volunteered at a humane society for two years, am part of my school’s astronomy club, am a member of a hiking club, play non-competitive intramural sports, make movies (I won a film festival once), play music in two bands (have recorded a few albums and toured on them), and have received Dean’s Highest Honors for three semesters in a row. I have had a job since my junior year of high school, and for a while I had two.
 • 3.0 in high school! Bleeeeh. My essay was about me getting to junior college and realizing how awesome school is, so it ended up working for me I guess.
 • My letter of rec was from a Princeton grad who has a masters and whose class I took for three semesters. I have no idea how good or bad it was.

Good luck to you all, I hope everyone gets big packages in the mail soon! And I still don’t know how to activate my netid, but they did give me my netid number in my packet. Now hopefully I can just pay for this damn school. ALSO all of my credits transferred except 1 unit.

Wow. They misplaced your transcripts? NYU misplaced my entire application file LOL. Ahhhhhhhh yeah, but you cant really blame it on the file clerks. They have thousands of files coming in at a time, and its really only human error. Im going to call the assistant director to make sure that my file wasn’t marked late or anything because I handed everything in on time. Good luck to everyone who applied. Hope your dreams come true.

has anyone else gotten a letter from tisch yet? it seems like every other school is getting responses but tisch. all this waiting and anticipation is killin me…

@ingers: I applied for Film and TV and I have not received anything yet, but I think someone in the other thread said they got accepted to the Drama program. Hopefully we’ll hear back soon! Good luck! Hope you get some good news.

did you guys try the net ID thing? haha it helps in easing the anxiety
