I’m a high school junior planning on applying to the following schools: New York University, George Washington University (i know they don’t necessarily require SAT scores), University of Florida, Boston University and possibly Fordham University. I’m going to post my stats and I’d really appreciate it if you all could tell me my chances of getting into some of these schools.
STATS:
Pacific Islander (Chamorro)/Asian female
Attending a magnet school focused on engineering, science and technology (I’m in the technology sector)
UW GPA: 3.33
W GPA: 4.0
SAT Scores (just took them for the first time w/out much preparation, took the new SAT on April 12 and just signed up for the June 11 ACT which I’ve been taking a prep class for)
Writing: 690
Math: 510
Reading: 580
Took one AP freshman year, one sophomore year, two junior year, estimating four senior year.
Three honors classes freshman year, three honors sophomore year, four honors junior year.
Three years of French (my school doesn’t offer a French 4 or AP French but I might continue in college)
ECs:
Beta Club (you’re invited into it; focuses on volunteer work. 3.2 uw gpa required)
National Honor Society member
Vice President of French Club
Philosophy Club member (freshman year)
Cross Country (sophomore year… quit because it was not my thing at all. i really tried to like it.)
90+ hours volunteering at a children’s hospital and women’s hospital. continuing this summer so i should have around 160 hours from just this by senior year
Volunteer with local organizations revolved around refugees moving to FL, specifically Syrian for some of the organizations.
For NYU, my mom is alumni but I don’t know if that kind of stuff is even considered.
Lastly, I’m not too sure about my major except that I would like to do something where I can write, but I don’t want to major in English or Creative Writing. I’ve been thinking of a Political Science or International Relations major with a Journalism minor. I don’t see it changing drastically but there is a chance I could change my mind through the course of the next year.
Please tell me what you think and what I can improve! Thank you!!
Also if you have any feedback specifically on my ECs or SAT scores, please share! I really would like more guidance with my next moves specifically involving those two!
