NYU vs Northeastern HELP!

So I was all set on attending Northeastern when I get an email from NYU announcing I was given one of the last spots in the class off of the waitlist. I plan on going into Economics and for NYU was put in the Core Liberal Studies Program. I prefer Boston and the Northeastern campus, but the prestige of the NYU econ program is something hard to deny. Thoughts?

Don’t forget to keep money in mind - if one is offering you a better financial deal, there is a lot to say for passing up a more prestigious school if it means you’re in considerably less debt down the road. This is especially true if you’re planning on continuing education past an undergraduate degree. I turned down UChicago because Northeastern awarded me a very generous scholarship.

That said, the prestige may be worth it. I don’t know anything about NYU’s economics program - if it’s really top notch, and money isn’t an issue, it might be a good decision.

In either case, whatever you choose, I’m going to guess you probably won’t regret it.

From experience; NYU was overly generous with non-subsidized loans Argh!!! So NEU was an easy choice. I like the college match-up tool on parchment.com and rate my professors.com because current students input gives all data for the rating system. College is more than an academic department. I am biased with Boston as a better city to live in and Northeastern’s campus shines a bit brighter over all as well. However, are you planning on going straight to Grad School? If so NYU gets bonus points for their Economics department, and your TA’s will be of higher caliber. If you are planning on going into the workforce permanently or even for a few years before going on to Grad school, Northeasterns CoOp program outshines NYU. And when you compete against all the other Econ majors out there NEU will be a better choice. Both schools are excellent, let the finances play heavily in your decision making.
