HI, I'm a doctor from Pakistan. i was wondering if some one could help me out in deciding which School to go to for MPH (masters in public health).I have been accepted at NYU, Tufts in Global health and and St. louis in epidemiology. But i do not know where to go to. My preference is to go to a program which after graduation will give me a better income and job opportunity. Also during my masters i would like to work perhaps in research in the field of my interest that would help me in making me competitive for residency in the long term. I really dont care about the city life. NYU has is giving me scholarship (i guess its decent amount|) and it seems they really want me. St.louis and tufts have not yet offered any but they did say that they have research, teaching and graduate assistant ships and opportunities available. I'm planning to do my residency after my MPH. All three are good schools but i can't make up my mind. if some one out there can help me prioritize where i should go , then it would be helpful and i would be extremely grateful

Until you know the specifics of scholarship money and money making opportunities via assistant ships I think it is premature to make any decision.

i agree and thank you for your prompt response…very kind of you, but I would only know these specifics once i get admitted. and start looking for one. I have a dead line approaching in 2 weeks so i have to visit the campuses and open house sessions. But apart from scholarship and assistantship… if i had to make a decision which one i should go for… NYU has given me the specific amount for scholarship but i don’t know at this point how much assistant ship opportunities are out there. …so what should i do if it came down to given a response?

Income potential and job opportunities, I imagine, would be equivalent with degrees from Tufts and NYU; assistantships might be more abundant, too, as the schools are in larger urban/ medical centers. My D is new to Tufts and is interested long-term in both public health and epidemiology, as well, and finds the “save the world” mentality among her fellow Jumbos inspiring. But if NYU’s scholarship is compelling enough, along with its size, which could equate to more assistantship possibilities, but more competition, too…? You might want to find out if each school’s program is geared toward more “hands on” public health versus research/ biomedical/ policy focuses. You say you’ve been admitted to all three schools—can you contact specific departments for the info you need?
