GEORGETOWN v. TUFTS

I am having troubling deciding between Georgetown and Tufts. I know I would like to pursue medicine, but I was accepted at Georgetown College, not the School of Nursing and Health Studies. Does anyone know what has a better pre-med program and reputation, Georgetown (just college but possibility of transfer to NHS) or Tufts? Thanks

I'll just speak for Tufts -- it has a renowned program in Community Health studies (which can lead to a 5 year program whereby you get a BA in Community Health and an Masters in Public Health from the medschool)... Even if the MPH bit doesn't interest you, you can still study community health as a premed student as the program is really well-known (the unique options are rivaled only by a similar public health program at Penn).

If no community health interests you, then just study one of the natural sciences here; they're all strong departments, with tons of money put into undergraduate research which can boost your job or med school placement down the road.

There is also an early-admit program for pre med students at Tufts to the Tufts Medical School .

Thanks for the insight.

georgetown has a pre-admit program to their medical school. So if ur interested in medicine ( or anything for that matter), I would go with gtown. My dad is the section chief of a very prestigious hospital and he does most of the scouting/recrtuiting of new doctors. From what he has said, Gtown med students have been exceptionally succesful and bright.

also, Georgetown has a program for both its med school and law school where you apply as a junior (super competitive) and if accepted, you don't have to take the mcats/lsats and, pending a certain gpa i think, just go straight on to georgetown med/law from there.

Tufts also has an early-admit program to the Tufts Medical School for very qualified undergraduates -- also a way to skip the horrors of taking the MCAT. It also has a dual-degree med school & Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy program.

I'm sorry, but Tufts has a much better science program than Georgetown
