NYU vs. U of Rochester

I am thankful to have such good choices, but I am basically going insane. How could choosing a college be so difficult and involve so many factors? I hope someone can give me some perspective, because I am basically going around in circles thinking this through.

NYU

Positives as I perceive them:
- Nursing program will give me a stable job if I don't have money to go to grad school, lose focus, or who knows what else might happen.
- People recognize and react to the name NYU moreso than they do to UR. They're schools of equal caliber, and yet.
- $20,000 scholarship for four years w/ a very low gpa requirement
- New York City is more fun

Negatives as I perceive them:
- I live somewhat close to NYU and my parents refuse to pay for campus, I will have to take out a 10 grand loan for the first year
- I don't come from a privileged background and will not have all the money in the world to spend in NYC
- My parents will pay about 10 grand and I will take about the same amount in loans per year

University of Rochester

Pos:
- It has a campus, I get to truly "go away to college," and all that good stuff
- I am majoring in Health and Society, a perfect major for me and thinking of med school
- It will cost my parents a total of 13,000 with no loans at all

Neg:
- In case I don't get into medical school (about which I may change my mind), going out into the real world with a liberal arts degree is scary... I am that type of person who needs a safety net and I don't have it, being an immigrant and all
- Less famous than NYU
- It's really cold there.
- Not particularly fond of the sorority/frat culture... its existance, even.

Comments? Advice? Thanks

Please? Anyone?

U of R. I am from Rochester. If you want medical go U of R. How is it onlu costing u 13k?

Personally, I would go to U of R, and maybe major in something like Chem or Biochem... I really don't like the NYU (lack of a) campus, and while it might be a bit more famous, U of R is definitely better for pre-med, especially with a hospital right off campus for internships and the like. Rochester isn't that bad of a city either, it has plenty of stuff to do, and you are 90 min from Buffalo and Syracuse, two cities with plenty of stuff to do as well if you have a car.

Its not fair to compare U of R and NYU surrounding areas, because obviously NYC offers so much more. Rochester is small but there are things to do. People complain that the weather is bad but if you live anywhere in the North East you are used to it. U of R has great internship and research opitions. Strong hospital is a very well regard hospotal.
