NYU, W&M, Emory and UC

Hello, I have applied under Regular Decision for NYU, W&M, Emory and University of California (Berkeley, LA, SB, SD)
I would love to know my chances for these schools in either (0%-100%) or (High Match/Low Reach/Reach) format. I will chance back! None of the schools (by any means) are safety but I have been accepted to University of Georgia and Georgia Tech under Early Action already if that gives you an idea. NYU is my absolute dream school but I have applied to UC, W&M and Emory anyways because I think it’s still worth a shot.

Here is my profile:

Female
Asian American
Attends a school in Gwinnett County, Georgia (apparently one of the top public school system in the nation but my school has only been around for 6 years so it is not as established as other schools in Gwinnett County Public Schools)
Born in VA, lived in South Korea and New Jersey
Not first-generation college
Financial Aid? Yes
Sibling attends Emory
Intended major: Business(Marketing but it may change)

Stats:
ACT: 32 (M:33 R:29 S:34 E:32)
GPA: 3.8/4.0
Rank: around top 10-15%
Grade avg: 92
Course Rigor: basically the hardest schedule my school offers
AP:
9th grade: Human Geography (4) Biology (4)
10th grade: World Hist (3) Psychology (4) Statistics (3)
11th grade: Lang (4) US Hist (3), Physics (didnt take)
12th grade: Gov, Econ and Chem

Awards:
-AP Scholar with Distinction (since 10th grade)

-Academic Excellence (basically Honor Roll)- all four years
-Community Service Award
-County Science Fair (2nd)

Activities:
-VERY involved in student council/government and student leadership: Held multiple leadership positions and one of the projects I led received an award at a state-level student council convention. One of the executive member for a regional student council conference. (I coordinated and produced the decorations for the conference. The conference had about 1000 attendees from 14 states.) In general, in both student council and student leadership team, I was mainly in charge of public relations/advertisement/decorations/artsy stuff but also planned events like Blood Drive, Teen DUI Campaign, Homecoming, etc.
+I met Georgia Governor Deal if that helps (he doesn’t personally know me.)

-JV Spirit Cheerleading: (9th-10th, total of 3 seasons): No cheerleading experience prior to high school. received Coach’s Award, Most Valuable Cheerleader, Bear Award and All “A” 's Award

-International Night Executive/Planning Board Member: Decorations Committee Chair (Do you see a reoccurring pattern?)

-Other Clubs: Beta Club, Relay for Life, Academic Team, Math Honors Society, Senior Cabinet (just a member)

Volunteer:
-Orphanage in South Korea: volunteered over the summer. mainly helped out with cleaning the orphanage but also taught English to the toddlers
-Middle School Band Tutor: volunteered at my middle school band and coached the flute section
-Coaching elementary cheerleader
-Mentoring at the School: I am a mentor which means that I mentor and tutor struggling freshmen to pass their classes, get involved in school, etc.

In a nut shell, my biggest involvement is in student leadership and my art contribution in those clubs.

Counselor Rec: My counselor happens to be my teacher and knows about my leadership involvement so I expect it to be pretty personable
Teacher Rec: Advisor of Student Council (I expect it to be very good. She taught me for 2 years and in student council, I literally stayed afterschool until 7pm while serving as the Decorations Chair for the regional conference I was talking about.)
Advisor of Student Leadership Team:(he hasn’'t started on it which makes me a little nervous but I know that he is very willing to write me one. I expect it to be good. We’re really close. He is a alumni of NYU.)
Language Arts Teacher: I received the highest grade in the class. During class, we had a lot of discussions about equality and social issues and we share the same opinions. I think it will be good. She wrote my Georgia Tech rec. (Tech only allows 1)

Other Recommendation: Cheerleading Coach: Very good. She wrote about my transition from a shy girl to an established cheerleader and a leader. (Like I mentioned, I had no cheerleading experience before 9th grade so she really witnessed my growth as a cheerleader). She also wrote about how I went against the cultural norms (I was the only Asian cheerleader and one of the few AP Scholar Cheerleader)
-My sibling will be writing one for Emory (I’ve been to Emory multiple times and am very familiar with that school.)

Self evaluation:

-my test scores could have been higher. I didn’t even bother sending in my SAT because they were lower than ACT)
-Rank and GPA is not strong
-Though my ECs are not spectacular, I think the recommendation from the advisers will really strengthen them.
-I thought my supplement essay for NYU showed my love and desire to attend there very well. I was very passionate when I wrote it.
-Common App Essay: I’m not 100% satisfied but it was the best I could do. As you could probably tell, writing is definitely not my forte. Overall, I think it shows my persistence, ability to learn quickly and resilience

Special Conditions/Struggles:
-living away from my parents for the past 7 years
-in the past 7 years, I have been living with a family friend who has been struggling with bipolar disorder, depression, alcohol dependence and other illnesses

(Note: My essays were not centered around this so I don’t think this would be a deal breaker.)

If you read it up to this far, thank you so so much! Like I said, I will chance back. Please give me your honest opinions.

/whistles/ Those stats are pretty golden, I’d say you’re in the clear for most of those schools. NYU is a definite accept, and if there are no financial worries, I’d wager your dream school is in the bag.

Thank you for chancing me! If you link your thread, I will chance back.
And as I mentioned in my original post, I will be applying for financial aid- My family is just good old middle class and as you might imagine, my sibling attending Emory is already a strain on my family.

Some of these colleges will need aware, others will be need blind, so your need for financial aid might be the only thing that could stop you from getting acceptances.

Thank you for your input! Fortubately, most schools that I have applied to claims to be need blind.

Your stats are pretty good, I really hope you get into NYU, and from my perspective it’s looking pretty good!

You should be fine for Emory especially. Good luck! Please chance me back

None on your list seem unreasonable for you. There is always a little bit of luck involved, but you are well qualified for all of them. Berkley is probably the most “reach” school on your list, but you will have a very good chance there as well as the others. I wish you the best of luck with your admissions, even if you don’t get in where you want to go, you sound like an amazing person so don’t sweat it. You are pretty much guaranteed in at NYU!!!

All I could say for sure is UCSB, NYU, and WM are easy acceptances for you. The others, with the exception of Berkley, you should get in, but who ever knows nowadays. Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1737853-chances-with-ucla-ucb-gw-au.html?new=1

@cferrera13 I got accepted from UCSD and rejected from WM and UCSB. I guess the odds were not at my favor.

@acceptexceptions‌ NYU is coming out in a couple days and the past 2 weeks has been filled with rejections (WM, UCLA, UCSB) but your kind words has been so encouraging! Thank you so much

Those schools are public and are pretty hard to get into OOS. Don’t lose hope for NYU just yet.

I got accepted to UVa and W&M and was waitlisted at Fordham. I met a girl recently who was rejected to George Mason and got into UVa. There is hope. Good luck! I think you’ll be fine at NYU.

@JuniorBengal‌ Thank you so so much. I really appreciate your encouragement! yes, I do think college admission is unpredictable- I know a girl who got into Uva and Ga Tech early but got differed from UGA and got in Regular

Update- rejected from every school except UC San Diego. I’m really sad that I didnt get into NYU but life will go on. Thank you to everyone who commented
