NYU Writing Supplement

So I'm applying to NYU and I've got some ideas for the writing supplement which asks the applicant: What can NYU offer you?"

i'm going to talk about diversity, the competitive city NYU is located in, blablabla all the supposedly cliché points i can state (depending on word limit) but I come down to one thing which is important to me: secularism

now, i'm not trying to say i'm against religion or so (some people may associate the term with negative connotations due to their interpretation of the word's meaning), but I do want to know if the subject would be appropriate. Its just that i've lived in several places where things are observed or based on religion - some to an extreme level, others to a reasonable level. So i was wondering if secularism would fit the context appropriately.

I've never been to NYC but i've just seen so much from HONY haha. So please bare my lack of knowledge x_x

Thankyou

I’ve read in numerous places and been advised by teachers to leave politics and religion out of personal statements. After all, humans are reading them and we are known for our biases. However, if you strongly believe that it can aid your EDUCATION, include it. NYU knows that each student comes set with their own affiliations, therefore it leaves diversity out of the question. What they’re really asking is what interests you about NYU’s schools and programs and what do you think you can do to expand that.
