I’m mainly applying to LACs, what are my chances to Middlebury EDII??
Please comment if you share my interests and school choice:)

please reply guys :expressionless:

chance me for these other choices please?
Middlebury(ED2)
Reed
Colby
Colorado(EA)
Carleton
Claremont Mckenna
University of Rochester
Pomona
Oberlin
College of William and Mary
Wellesley
Hamilton
Bowdoin
Davidson
Vassar
Wesleyan
Grinnell
Haverford
And if I apply to FA, how much will my chances be reduced?

Being international might hurt you, but your test scores and ECs look pretty good to me. Personally, I wouldn’t sent the ACT, but I dont really see it hurting you that much if at all. Your national awards are definitely a plus also. Good luck!

By average student ACT/SAT scores, the top ~3/4 of your choices appear like this:

Pomona
Bowdoin*
CMC
Carleton
Haverford
Vassar
Grinnell
Hamilton
Wellesley
Wesleyan*
Reed
W&M
Middlebury

Though other factors are involved, your chances at these schools will correlate to some extent with their average scores. The remaining five schools would be slightly easier to gain admission to, though they as well are highly selective.

As a matter of opinion, the colleges on your tentative list represent some of the best opportunities in the U.S.

*Standardized test optional.

Eugenics? Do you mean genetics?

@catfanatic6 thx for replying:) yeah I’m not sending ACT. I took it as a lucky shot, not many preparations though.
So true that international applicants pool is very very competitive, especially so many of my compatriots go abroad each year. Do you think good writing(relatively SOS I wish I were raised multilingually) may gain me some advantage over super-high-scoring peers?

@merc81 Thx for the list. I realize some on my list are not realistic for me (:expressionless: So you mean I have little chances getting in the schools on your list? FA is not necessary but I don’t hope to pressure my parents.

@merc81 “eugenics” was coined in 19th century, meaning “good genes.” Its original intention was to improve the quality of human population. It is often associated with abuse of scientific theories, inhumane social policies and some of the most extreme atrocities in human history, but in my opinion the notion eugenics intended for good but has been misused. With contemporary understanding and tech, it will be beneficial to follow a proper approach to eugenics. Like warding off diseases. If you are interested I could elaborate my research to you in private.

@Meerlin: When I post on chances threads, I’ll sometimes put schools in some type of order (particularly when LACs and universities both appear, though this is not the predominant case with your choices). I will also leave off a few, so as not to place a sometimes excellent college “last.” You are qualified for every school on your list, and should apply to all of those which you find appealing based on your personal criteria. As a general rule, gaining admission to schools with less than about a 25% acceptance is particularly difficult for both U.S. and international students. These schools can still be “realistic” for a qualified applicant, however, particularly if, as in your case, the student is not in great need of financial assistance, which does commonly matter.

In the U.S., eugenics is still generally understood to mean controlled selective pairing within humankind. It is the element of control that most find objectionable. Since the term predates Watson and Crick, I’m not sure if the modern understanding of genetics has ever been incorporated into a definition of eugenics. Semantics aside, I would be very interested in hearing about your research privately.

Oh my. To me your application seems wonderful. I mean, I am not really doing much and I am still applying
