** NYUAD CLASS OF 2021 - ED1 **

@AlejandroGomez If you’re passionate, involved, and more than just an ‘average’ student then you’ll do fine! It’s just a two week wait until candidate weekend invites are out now 8-| Good luck!

Also, does anyone know the purpose of those boxes in Albert? The ones that say “transcripts” and “standardised test scores”.

@13thElvishLord I think it’s something to do with the admissions officers actually reading your transcript and confirming that it has all of the necessary information. I wouldn’t worry about it.

@13thElvishLord Hey! I live in the UAE too! I had the same question about ticks in the albert. I actually got to talk to the admission team and they said as long as they are sent it’s fine. I didn’t take any SATs or ACTs and so did many others I presume (especially for students who go to british schools like me). As long as you’ve sent in your highschool transcript (GCSEs, AS-level results and A-level predictions), they said it will be fine. They are sending the candidate weekend invitations in a few days time so I hope I can meet you soon! Hope this helped, don’t worry too much though. They did tell me if anything was missing they would contact the school counselor

@dreamncatcheryu A FEW DAYS TIME??? ARE YOU SERIOUS? OMG
Yeah, I spoke to them too and they said that they’ll contact me if anything is missing since my school doesnt have a counselor (my school’s director send things for me instead). I’m in a british school too and didnt do SATs or ACTs. Would you mind sharing your grdaes?

@13thElvishLord AHAHA OMG NO PLS DON’T WORRY i mean 7-10 days is pretty early to me  Sorry if that made you freak out! And sure, my grades are GCSEs: 10As and A, AS-level: 4As and I’m predicted 2As and an A (if EPQ counts towards this that would be another A*). Your grades look amazing by the way  I don’t think you need to worry, you’ve got great chance! Let’s hope they favor us and invite us to candidate weekend

All of you gave the AS Level exams? @13thElvishLord @dreamncatcheryu

@wakinguptoschool I’m not sure about everyone, but I was told to do so. I got my AS results during summer so my counselor sent it as part of my highschool transcript. Did you send yours?

@dreamncatcheryu oooh okay that makes more sense lool
Oh my god another person with 10 + GCSEs. You guys make me freak out more than anything. But my school didnt offer any other subjects than the ones I took (excluding arabic fisrt language which I could have taken for the life of me) so I hope that they are aware of that and take that into account or even better look at my predicted a-level A* A* A* A instead. xD Mind sharing your extracurriculars too? Yeah same - would be super cool if we could meet at CW!!

@dreamncatcheryu I didn’t give the AS level exams. Just gave the school’s final examinations.

Also, everyone be sure to join the Facebook page “NYUAD - Class of 2021 Applicants”.

@13thElvishLord Your predictions are well above average then! I was going to take another subject for my A-levels but further maths was too overwhelming for me that I had to secure my grades with just 3 subjects :frowning: And I’m not sure if my ECs are good enough but just to top it off, I did DofE bronze and silver, helped in a charity to raise 5000dhs for new school building in Mauritius, Violin (ABRSM) concerts, orchestra, won the Masdar City Art competition, DELF and few minorities like form rep and prefect plus work experience. What about you?

@wakinguptoschool Do you do british curriculum? I’m surprised you have school’s final examinations AND AS levels! Our school only does mock exams just before christmas and small unit tests after so we can concentrate on A levels only. But don’t worry the admissions team did say they will contact the school if anything required is missing

@wakinguptoschool here the AS exams were considered as part of the transcripts. What curriculum do you follow?

@dreamncatcheryu We’ve got mocks in december and march here. I did 6 GCSEs because my school didnt offer more and my AS levels are in maths, physics, biology and chemistry (in which i got a B in AS that sort of ruins the picture and a predicted A) and continued with them to A levels.
Your extracurriculars are darn awesome!! I’m involved in a New York Academy of Sciences program, do MUN, tutored kids and volunteered in animal rescue. I draw and paint too but never took part in competitions, however, I’m head of art and design committee and school and yeah those little things like Head prefect and organising things in school.
I’m seriously doubting the strength of my application right now. xD

*in school

@13thElvishLord How can you even doubt about your application?! Your ecs are amazing! We have mocks just before christmas and a study leave right at the end so we can stay home and revise instead of coming to school. But that’s only for like a week before exams (quite helpful but not long enough). Some people in my school has only done 4 GCSEs before they moved to our school and I think it’s perfectly fine with your 6 GCSEs. They do look at these grades but they don’t 100% depend on them either so don’t worry  I think you are well rounded enough to be invited to CW at least!

@dreamncatcheryu that’s encouraging!! Wow.Our school gave a limit of minimum 5 and the maximum they offered was 7. Yeah, at NYUAD it all comes down to whether or not you fit in as a person so you’re right. We’ve got mocks in dec and march and then we are off for a study leave too which is about the same duration as yours. by the way, what is DofE? never heard of it.

@13thElvishLord We do this program in british schools called Duke of Edinburgh. It depends where you are but for my school, we went to the desert and hiked for 3nights 4 days. Plus you have to do community and service and learn new skils etc (you have an online recording book where you have to keep track of how many hours and what you did each week) First it’s bronze, then silver then it’s gold. Dofe gold is such a good opportunity because you get to fly to Mauritius and hike plus build a whole school for little kids! Unfortunately it was too expensive that I decided not to go, but I did the pre-expedition where we try it out in the desert before leaving to Mauritius.

@dreamncatcheryu That sounds so much fun!! Too bad we dont have that I would have loved it :frowning: Now I’m really curious as to what school you are in…

@dreamncatcheryu @13thElvishLord I do the British Curriculum too. But we give the A-Levels in one go instead of first doing the AS and then giving the final A-Levels exams. And instead of AS, we give our final school exams.

@wakinguptoschool oooohhh that makes sense then. Where do you live?
