Hey guys! I’m applying to NYUAD class of 2022 ED1 as well! nice to meet you all
Hey! I’m an IB student from Turkey applying ED1. I’m very excited for the application process, good luck to you all :-*
@mightychondria @mightychondria1 I intend to apply ED1 but I think according to timelines you provided somewhere on the site, by the time decisions for who should attend candidate weekend are out, my ACT results will not have been released. I’ve registered for the October 28 ACT. What is the school’s take on when ED1 applicants should sit for their ACT? I cant find that information on their website.
Hi @slumgoat ! As described at this link http://nyuad.nyu.edu/en/admissions/applying-to-nyuad/early-decision.html, all your test results (or predicted results) should be available by the application deadline. If you need more time, you should apply ED2.
Hi Guys! I am applying ED1 to NYUAD too. Is anyone here writing the nomination essay? @mightychondria any tips??? I am really lost with the essay.
@tiaslytherin Hey! I’m applying ED1 too! However I’m pretty you aren’t the one who’s supposed to write the nomination essay, your councilor is. They can pick one person from your school to nominate to the university. The only essays you have to write are the collegeboard essay and the ‘Why NYU?’ Essay
@tiaslytherin Hey! Yes I am writing nomination essay. @mel007 Its us who is writing the nomination essay. Councilor is supposed to write a type of recommendation letter which is actually a part of nomination process.
@unifeva no way! really?? Are you sure?? Where could I read more about it? Could you maybe send me a link?
@unifeva @mel007 @tiaslytherin Hey guys! Your counselor completes the nomination, except for the writing assignment which YOU need to complete. Read more here: http://nyuad.nyu.edu/en/admissions/information-for-counselors/nomination-overview.html
My advice for the essay is pretty generic, but basically don’t over-think it. Find an issue you’re passionate about and your unique voice will shine through. Something relevant that has to do with world politics, human rights, or with your cultural background can be a good place to start, because then you can reveal some of who you are as a person/student while also appealing to the “future global leader” aspect of NYUAD. Make sure you proofread it and organize your ideas. Message me if you have more specific questions.
@mightychondria @unifeva ahhh now I understand, thanks guys!
@mightychondria thanks! @mel007 @unifeva nice to meet you too! Are both of you in the facebook group?? for NYUAD prospective students?
@tiaslytherin You mean ‘NYUAD - class of 2022 applicants’ ? Yep I am! are you?
@mel007 Welcome .@tiaslytherin Yes !! I have already joined the facebook group.
@mightychondria hey i find your comments on the NYUAD threads so helpful! im worried i have a very weak chance of getting in… can i share my stats with you and get your honest opinion?
@buzzbeebuzz Hey! Glad to be of help. The things is, I honestly don’t care for the whole “what are my chances based on my stats” thing, because honestly no one knows what exactly goes into the admissions decision, especially in a small university like NYUAD where everyone comes from such diverse backgrounds. That being said, if you have questions about the NYUAD experience and how you can demonstrate your fit for the university, I can offer some general pointers. I can also link you to stats of past admitted classes on the NYUAD website. Feel free to message me!
Hey guys! I’m most probably applying ED2 to NYUAD so I wanted some details about the nomination essay. Is the topic expected to change for admissions to Fall 2018?
Hey! Nope, the topic is the same! @thenameisi
Hey guys so I started off high school on a rather low note. I was 36th in 150 students. GPA 4.39 out of 5.00. But i improved since. My last 2 GPA’s have been around 4.90s altho they no longer provide class ranks. How much do you think that will affect my chances?
Hello everyone! I’m applying ED1 too and am super nervous. Application due in 2 days!!
@mightychondria do you know approximately how long it takes for the CW invites to be sent out after ED1 applications?
