NYUAD Class of 2022

@socialhierarchy I applied ED1 for Class of 2020. I received my CW invite on Nov 13 (2015) with a link to access the Candidate Weekend portal, with information, forms, and schedules. On Nov 27, I received my plane ticket. The next day (Nov 28), I received an email with pre-departure info. My Candidate Weekend was Dec 3-6 2015. Your CW should follow roughly the same timeline in the weeks prior to departure, give or take a few days.

@socialhierarchy hey! From what I know, they start to send them out from november 15th!! So only 16 days left!! And this year the CW is December 7-10th

@mel007 Yeah it’s normally mid-November!

Ahh yeah I heard! I’m so insanely nervous!! Can’t stop thinking about it! @mightychondria

@mel007 Haha I’ve definitely felt your pain! Best of luck, I’ll be thinking of you all!

16 days seem so far away, I’m so nervous haha @mel007 @mightychondria

Does our common app essay have to be about political issues and whatnot? Mine is a little on the humorous side while talking about my personality, I didn’t mention politics. Is that okay? @mightychondria

@socialhierarchy Totally fine! Humor and personality is a good way to do it and Common App is open-ended for a reason. My common app essay wasn’t about politics either.

@mightychondria ahah I know, thank you! You’re so lucky its over!

@socialhierarchy ahah I know!! I’ve literally had a count down on my phone since last month! And yea my essay’s got nothing to do with politics, why would it need to be about politics?

Bless you @mightychondria

I read a comment on this or another thread about the essays needing to include politics so I was just double checking @mel007

I am thinking of sending only SAT scores (1530) 800 in Math and 730 in English. I have pretty low GPA around (3.2). Would it be fine if my counselor send only my SAT scores and recommendations instead of my GPA and national level examination’s transcripts?

I haven’t received my portall yet. I submitted on deadline day. I’m so anxious

@mightychondria approximately how many people who get invited to CW get offers of admission?

@socialhierarchy I don’t want to give you incorrect information, since it depends on the CW and depends on the year, but from the Class of 2020 data here: https://nyuad.nyu.edu/en/admissions/student-profiles/by-the-numbers.html there were 402 offers of admission given. Each CW has about 125-130 students, and there are 4 Candidate Weekends per year. So you’re looking at roughly 80%.

alright, thank you for the help @mightychondria

Anybody got their checklist ticked in the Albert?

@primenumber we were actually just talking about that on the facebook page, no apparantly everyone’s is not ticked

@primenumber @mel007 i just joined college confidential, and I’m not on the Facebook group, but my checklist has been completely ticked on the Albert portal
