Hello, everyone! I am in my last year of high school and have started searching for colleges to apply to. During my research, I came across this really interesting college called New York University Abu Dhabi ( which happens to be a satelite campus of Nyu in the middle east).
I found it extremely attractive as it offers full financial aid to those who are selected. Also, I have heard that it is very selective. My question is- Is studying to NYUAD the same as studying at NYU? We all know NYU is a highly prestigious college and is recognized around the world but, can nyuad be considered as prestigious as nyu in new york ( Considering the fact that it is just 4 years old) There have been many projects of American universities in the middle east, for example Michigan state in Dubai, Carnegie Mellon in Qatar etc. which have not been as successful as their main campuses. Is NYUAD an exception or just another project of an American university in the middle east which no one really cares about? My point being, will companies offering jobs and top graduate colleges consider an NYUNY and NYUAD graduates equal? Where should I apply? to NYUAD or to NYUNY (where the real action is, as many people say) if money is not a very big problem for me? And finally, if I graduate from NYUAD, will I be freely able to call myself an 'NYU Graduate' without being frowned upon? I am displaying so much interest in this institution as it seems like a different experience and really interesting. I just want your opinions before I consider applying there. Is applying to NYUAD worth it, or should I play safe and go to NYU instead? Thanks in advance.

OK Cleverboy I won’t try to answer dew of your questions.I applied to NYUAD for the FALL 2012 and I made upto the Candidate weekend but didnot make it in the final selection process.

NYUAD is really as reputed as NYU. NYU has many other portals around the world whcih are not as famous. However,in few years NYUAD has established itself as comparable to NYUAD. It has great internships opportunities and many grea companies are waiting for its first graduating batch. I know students from my year around the world who came to NYUAD rejecting offers from MIT and Darthmouth.

For this I would say you to decide the amount you can pay and compare it with the aid provided by NYUNY. You can apply to both with a single application. So,it is easy. However, be sure that if you select to apply to NYUNY and in supplement you tick “Consider me for other portal colleges of NYU” you will not be considered with much preference for NYUAD as there are many slective candidates around the world who apply only to NYUAD.So, consider you financial ability.

So far as I know, you can freely call yourself as NYU Graduate as Your Graduation certificate comes from NYU.
Also I would like to share few things with you:
NYUAD is worth giving a try although it is higly selective compared to NYUNY.
At NYUAd you are eligible upto two semester exchange at other portal campuses. So you can study upto two semester at NYUNY itself.
It has a great financial aid. I t definately a rich college where you will find lots of money. So it is easy for you to conduct researches with free funding.
If you are really interested in it I would suggest you o give it a shot. Who knows you may make it. Even if you make it to candidate weekend you can have a full sponsered trip to NYUAD :D

why they didn’t accept you even if you are invited by nyuad? below how much they will provide full aid?
