OASIS question

First of all..as a freshman...are we already registered for classes? Or do we still have to go into OASIS and like confirm or something on the 27th? I got my mailing today and it says I'm enrolled. I just want to make sure I don't have to go back into the system to say..yes, this is right, register me. Because technically what we did at SAOP was the "Course Request" thing. I dunno. Anyway..if we do have to back in (because I wanted to make a slight adjustment anyway):

I had a quick question about OASIS. I already downloaded it onto my computer, and it won't let me do anything until the 27th. That's fine. I wasn't bumped from a class. But I wanted to know..just to be prepared..if when I change a section it'll alert me of a full class.

Example:

Right now I'm in section 9 of MATH 150A but I want to be in section 7 (due to time convenience.) Will OASIS tell me if the section I want is full? It won't be a tragedy if I don't get in. But it would be nice.

Thanks a lot for any help.

PS(if anyone is in section 9 of MATH 150A, who is the teacher???? it doesn't say in the schedule of courses online or in the book...nor on my file on Access2Academic)

Yeah, the registrar's office has been working out everyone's schedule this past month (upperclassmen, not just incoming students). The schedule you recieved is what you are registered for and enrolled in. Here is a neat website that (depending on how much is known) tells you your schedule, and for each class, who's teaching it and who every single person enrolled in the class is. (<a href="https://www2.vanderbilt.edu/rolls/plsql/rolls.login)%5B/url%5D">https://www2.vanderbilt.edu/rolls/plsql/rolls.login)</a>.</p>

Also, last time I checked, OASIS did have the status of the course right next to the section number in the listings that are called up depending what command you type. It's usually just "open" or "closed".

The website says that I can't access the information, so class rolls must not be available yet (at least for freshmen).

many math teachers you will just have to find out by surprise.

I think that perhaps freshmen may only be able to access it on the phone through a freshman advisor. I believe an email was sent last week that explains the procedure. Good luck!

Ok thanks guys. So I guess I'll just wait for OASIS to open for me tomorrow and see if my desired section isn't closed. I called yesterday to make some major changes, but I feel if I call again for this other change I'll be bugging the guy. haha

if you want to see if the section is open on OASIS just type "show open math 150a"

freshman are supposedly not allowed to access OASIS

Keyword being supposedly. I think I see where they (ITS and the Registrar's office, I'm assuming) are coming from. You don't want to hyper-obssess over your schedule just yet. Remember, you're gonna meet with your pre-major advisor during fall orientation (I don't know the new name; used to be called VUcept) to fix everything up.

Right, but what I meant was they don't even let us log in. We get an error message, and I'm ok with that. I guess I was just being curious.... and perhaps anxious to have a perfect schedule. But what I have right now is a lot better than what most people are getting stuck with (for the time being that is). It's all good :)

Engineering students can access OASIS. I changed my schedule yesterday morning, and it has been updated on Access 2 Academinc Information already.

ah, lucky!

Hey VandyTX, where in Texas are you from?

San Antonio

Cool. I'm from Houston.
