to any who can attend!

the KENNEDY part didn't come thru! :)

If anyone wants to know something that I love about AU, this is it - amazing speakers! We had Jimmy Carter a few months ago.

My daughter was lucky enough to have gotten in to see and hear Senator Obama, along with the Kennedys--very exciting!

Yes, this is a huge plus from my S' standpoint as well. The quality of the speakers is outstanding. And - no matter who wins the election, today was an historic event at AU. Very exciting.

as always, saranac, i completely agree! extremely exciting, and as my d said, "he chose us !" fantastic AU exposure , so very long overdue and deserved! this is the feeling and essence of AU!

It was such an exciting and proud day for AU! It occurs to me that even for such wonderful news, we can see the threads are sparse so I just want to reflect for a moment upon the fact that for whatever reason, the AU students don't come here, don't know about it and in no way reflects on the quality of the school. If there was ever a time that students would reflect on the school it would have been a result of yesterday. Way to go AU!

Caroline Kennedy referenced in her speech an address given by her father at AU. For those not aware, it was the June 1963 commencement address, and is one of the top 100 speeches according to this website:

I'm sorry my son wasn't there for yesterday's event! His graduation speaker last May was David Gregory, Chief White House correspondent for NBC and an alum of AU. At some point in his 4 years at AU he also heard Gorbachev speak. Exciting stuff!

well, maybe the parents are on CC and the students are on Facebook!
It was great to watch the news and see AU referred to as a place where "history is being made".

There was a segment on the local NBC affiliate (channel 4), which btw is right across the street from AU. Anyway these two Republican-leaning AU women were interviewed on 4, but just had to be there for this event. Kinda captures the essence of AU...

oh, hey, dudedad! so you found me on that "falling in love with your campus" thread! :)
