Obama TV Address

Tuesday at 12, Obama is making an address to all students in the US. My school's showing it and this really doesn't seem right to me. For the millions of kid across the country that will watch this, at a very impressionable age, they will be receiving commands directly from the president and many will be sucked in without knowing more about what is going on. It seems that not enough people question this man. Anyone else's school showing this... and any thoughts?

the “commands” are going to be “do your homework, study, and stay in school”

anyone who thinks otherwise watches too much glenn beck.

EDIT: maybe he’ll throw in some controversial stuff like “stay off drugs” or “respect your parents” as well.

“Listen to your teachers” = “support a totalitarian regime”
“Share with class mates” = “support communism”
“Don’t do drugs” = “crush the tobacco industry putting millions out of work”
“Stay in School” = “vocational education sucks”

I won’t be surprised when people start saying the above.

… wow seriously?

When the president is adressing the nation all the other television stations stop their programs for him regardless of his ideas or party affiliation. This is because when the president talks to our nation, we listen to his ideas maybe to disagree with him or maybe to agree with him. It could be anything. I really don’t believe the adress will cause the kids any lasting harm other than impressing on them the importance of the isssues the presidehnt speaks of.

People in the city I live in are all like “He’s trying to promote his socialist agenda” Someone in the newspaper was like half the people in the district are going to keep their kids home that day. So now the district isn’t showing it. they said it’ll be a “distraction”

Wow, I didn’t know that he was going to do this. What channel is it on? As far as I know, my school isn’t showing it:/

when i first heard about this, i automatically thought of the nazis… anyone else??

Yes, that is the first thing I thought of as well. Clearly Obama is looking to brainwash the future generation so he can persecute a religious group.

Get real. I don’t even agree with most of Obama’s ideas, but come on. Was that comment serious?

^Nope.

10char

Man, getting elected as a Black president isn’t the end of it all, you still got to put up with a lot of crap. People do realize he is not the first and not the last president to do this. It’s not hat out of he ordinary

It’s not that out of the ordinary except for a president to do this, but for a president like him who has so many radical ideas, associates with so many questionable characters, and simply puts down and alienates those that disagree instead of proving them otherwise, to now have the ears and minds of so many youth is not a good thing. This will help build recognition and loyalty to the ‘Obama’ brand.

And BTW, Green Jobs czar Van Jones is a self proclaimed communist… yea, I think that’s highly American to have someone like that so close to the president.

i shall tune into this on tuesday

[Van Jones - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href=“Van Jones - Wikipedia”>Van Jones - Wikipedia)

By the late 90s, he was promoting eco-capitalism.

Like I said earlier, I do not agree with many of Obama’s ideas but these right-wing attacks on him are ridiculous.

I’ll be in English, and my teacher is super republican. We’re reading 1984 right now and she thinks it “fits our dark times.” So we probably won’t watch it.
If it’s long enough, I might see the tail end of it in Calculus, where I’m a student helper. We watched the inauguration in there last year.
Who gave him the genius idea to address all students at 12?

My thoughts are its a good idea…not necisarilly how its happening over the internet but whatever. I was not pro-Obama but he’s not trying to brainwash kids…he just wants to spread out good feelings and advice to all kids, that education is important. I believe in this and might check it out if I can, even though im more of a hard core republican.

Does anyone know what channel it is on?

The right wing attacks ‘attacks’ against Obama only seem so bad because people aren’t used to hearing the truth. MSNBC is essentially state-run media, since they’re owned by GE, which would get the contract to digitize all medical records, so they want to support Obama in every way possible, so if you’re getting your news there, stop. I have come to realize that the people who like Obama are the ones who don’t know that much about him. And by spreading good feelings through a TV address to schools, he will make kids loyal to him and there will never be a chance to convince them otherwise.

@wartsandall I think they said they were going to be broadcasting it live on the White House website

I get out of calculus! YAY!!!
