Obama TV Address

I won’t even be in school yet. :D

But seriously, while I don’t like how it will endorse the “Obama brand,” it’s just the president addressing the nation. People are looking too far into this.

I think some of you are such dumb asses.

“The President will deliver a speech about the importance of persisting and succeeding.”
There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, it is good.

My county said they will not show it.

You do know Reagan went on TV and talked about the importance of low taxes, right?

And Obama isn’t even going to talk about any policies like that. He’s going to say “Hey kids, stay in school, work hard, do your homework.”

I don’t get what the fuss is about.

Bush did this - speaking to 8th graders and was universally SHUT DOWN by DEMOCRATS.

What was worse in Obama’s case was the directive from the US educational website telling school districts to have discussions and have kids write in to Obama telling “president Obama what the kids are going to do to help HIM enforce his agenda.”
He is supposed to be working for us - not the other way around. wake up - doesn’t matter what side of the political fence you are on.

Health Care reform anyone…Make Obama and every single law maker crafting Health Care LIVE and DIE by what they write… no outside the system wiggling.

Filmalife, how about you either read the document or don’t put in quotes. It says to write a letter about how they “can help President Obama”. It says nothing about “enforce his agenda” nor does it say that it’s going to President Obama. Teacher’s are keeping it.

And do you have a reliable source for that Bush did this to 8th graders? I don’t recall (and my memory is very good). Also, Bush 41 did it to no opposition.

This is getting very old.

"Some of the controversy surrounding Obama’s speech stems from a proposed lesson plan created by the Education Department to accompany the address. An initial version of the plan recommended that students draft letters to themselves discussing “what they can do to help the president.”

The letters “would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals,” the plan stated.

After pressure from conservatives, the White House said that the plan was not artfully worded, and distributed a revised version encouraging students to write letters about how they can “achieve their short-term and long-term education goals.”

On Bush - CNN reported he tried to speak to 8th graders Nationally in much the same way - 18 years ago

Seriously - CIA - how old ARE you?

The Dallas Morning News, and many other papers, note that President George H.W. Bush in 1991 gave a similar live speech on education, in which he said, “What’s so great about being stupid?”. While it did not provoke calls for boycotts, Democrats did complain about spending $28,000 in Department of Education money for a TV crew to handle the event.
and from the http://www.google.com/hostednews/img/ap_logo.gif?hl=en</a>
“President George H.W. Bush made a similar address to schools in 1991. Like Obama, Bush drew criticism, with Democrats accusing the Republican president of making the event into a campaign commercial.”

The plan was to ask how to help him improve public education. Now I know there are some that are strongly opposed to public education, but it shouldn’t be particularly controversial to try to improve it.

this is an EXTREMELY useless waste of time and money for obama.

seriously, such a charismatic character like himself can only reach out to the youngest of minds, and in a year’s time they’d have been too consumed by the real world to give a second thought on what they “learned.”

all politics aside, does anybody actually believe this will WORK?

Yes . =)

i heard he’s going to talk about how the SAT is racist and about how great affirmative action is

It sounds as if we all don’t even know what it is about. There is no use of this topic.

Quit making accusations that are most likely false, and how about we talk about his speech after the damn thing airs.

He’ll probably talk about his socialist plans… haha

i heard he’s going to talk about how the SAT is racist and about how great affirmative action is

^ haha i hope not. there’s a direct contradiction in saying those two statements in the same sentence.

Apparently the text will be released on Monday

Yes, first thing I thought of was nazis. I doubt my teacher will want to take away from her schedule to make us watch it. I certainly don’t want to and I imagine there would be booing and spit balls if we had to.

It’s true, Green Czar Van Jones is #45 on the membership list of the Revolutionary Communist Party. He’s also a Truther who believes Bush was behind 9/11. After getting out of jail, he’s quoted as saying, “By August, I was a communist” and he formed STORM, a revolutionary movement in support of Lenin and Marx. For you nonbelievers, just look it up. There are too many communists, marxists, Chicago Machine thugs, and other shady characters being given the key to the White House.

Alan Bersin, Border Czar, Alan Bersin wants to give every illegal amnesty whether they are criminals or not. He would have given amnesty to that monster who who escaped jail just this week who did a home invasion and beat the family so badly they were hospitalized.

Afghanistan Czar, Richard Holbrooke was a board of director of … drum roll, please… AIG.

Communications Czar on Health Reform, Linda Douglas was the nitwit brains behind reporting your friends and neighbors at fishy.com if they disagreed with ObamaCare. Can you say, “Heil Hitler!”?

Economic Czar, Larry Summers was the president of Harvard but resigned in 2006 when he got a vote of “no confidence.” While at Harvard, he said women just didn’t have the aptitude for higher learning. He is for dumping toxic waste in lower populated underdeveloped countries because aren’t polluted enough.

Education Czar, Arne Duncan is just one of the guys in the infamous Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago who enjoyed shooting hoops with Obama. He was also the CEO of the Chicago School district and we all know how well run that is.

Great Lakes Czar, Cameron Davis is spending $20 Billion to clean up our side of the Great Lakes. Apparently, Canadian water is smart and knows not to spill into the US side. Funny how there is no czar for any other American lake or waterway other than the water that washes up against Chicago’s shore.

Regulatory Czar, Cass Sunstein is another dude from Chicago who wants to limit free speech.

Science Czar, John Holdren is a total wack job. He hates babies in all shapes and forms so much so that teens and single parents shouldn’t be allowed to keep their babies, women should be sterilized and that birth control meds should be put in the drinking water.

The list goes on and on.

But therein lies the problem. Other Presidents have asks kids to support America but, as you said, Obama wants kids to support him.

Perhaps it would have been a little smarter for the administration to have done its own homework.

Schools don’t open for most of New York State until Wednesday…

Nor do they open in Los Angeles. Of course those are both radical lefty strongholds.

Been in school 3 weeks… :(
