Obama TV Address

In United States of America, you watch President on TV.

In Union of Soviet Socialist States of America, President on TV watches YOU!

^^HAHAHAHAHA, that is GREAT!

"Schools don’t open for most of New York State until Wednesday… "

I live in NY and all city schools open on tuesday o.0

HW did this back in the 90’s… was he also an evil totalitarian indoctrinating the children?

reagan actually gave a speech about the benefits of lower taxes, pretty blatant indoctrination right there.

pretty funny post, you should think about writing for the colbert report, needs a few more comparisons of obama to hitler though

Not upstate New York. Though why would that matter to Obama when NYC votes over them anyway?

I didn’t realize some schools started so late. I thought my school started pretty late this year–September 3rd.

I really don’t see what the big deal is with Obama talking to the schools. He’s just going to tell them to work hard and stay in school, and that may mean a lot to some kids that look up to or admire him as president. I feel like the country is just working against the president for no reason recently. There is no reason to be against this speech.

“Why is it political for the president of the United States to discuss education? It was done at a nonpolitical site and was beamed to a nonpolitical audience. . . . They wanted to reach the maximum audience with the maximum effect to improve education.” - Newt Gingrich

No, he was a Republican. Big difference, see?

LAUSD tends to start after Labor Day, and in recent years it seems to have moved from Tuesday to Wednesday. For example, in 2001 school started on Tuesday, September 4. This year it starts on Wednesday, Sept 9 (or so I’m told).

lol at people being two/three weeks in.

well i won’t be in school either when this address will be happening, i start 10/11th. i’ll probably just read the text when it comes out, since i don’t wake up that early.

i asked my left leaning american government teacher about the speech and she was very against it, saying it is probably propaganda and that it was unfair that he was showing it to very young students who are easily influenced.

however, i am all for it and think it will be great

no, they don’t but go ahead.

Text of the speech:

OH NO SOCIALIST PROPAGANDA!!!

Seriously, *** were people expecting?

Communist.

The speech seems rather negative to me… and a bit too specific and long.

I’d rather him say “I hope you have a good year and find something you enjoy.” rather than “If you don’t do that - if you quit on school - you’re not just quitting on yourself, you’re quitting on your country.”

but maybe that’s just me?

That puts a lot of pressure on kids…

But yeah… Maybe his speech will inspire some kids to finish school?

Obama shouldn’t even be President, he wasn’t born in the US.

You got it mixed up, McCain is the one who wasn’t born in the US.

John Kerry too
