Oberlin admits; onsite or regional auditions?

<p>no doubt due to my utter inability to use the search terms thingy properly, I can't find what MUST have been posted here at some point; that is, the proportion of singers admitted to Oberlin with a regional (and thus, taped) audition conducted by the school's admission gentleman, to those who were able to go and audition in person for the voice faculty.
Speculation aside, anyone out there get in with a regional audition?</p>

<p>perhaps violadad will prove me wrong by finding something, but I do not recall ever seeing the numbers you were looking for either here or on the Oberlin site.</p>

<p>In addition to whatever responses you get to your question on this thread, you may wish to check the Master List of Music School Acceptances for the past few years and PM anyone who was accepted at Oberlin for voice performance.</p>

<p>To the best of my knowledge, there have been a few postings listing numbers of openings, general acceptance percentages, but nothing that would provide that level of detail.</p>

<p>There may have been specific instances of acceptances reported via a regional audition.</p>

<p>I can tell you only that my son who did an audition on the Oberlin campus and was accepted, tells me that the majority of his Oberlin friends did regional auditions. This is in jazz, not voice, however.</p>

<p>My son, a Voice major, who did a regional, was admitted to Oberlin. Note: this was a few years ago. This was the one school where he never had time to visit the campus at all at any time, and he opted to attend another conservatory.</p>

<p>Thanks, LP - verrrry interesting, SJTH. I wish that all of this was quantifiable, but heaven willing , 'twill be over in a couple of weeks. Anecdotally, the last time two week felt this long was when I was 91/4 months pregnant…</p>

<p>Yep, last year there was a flurry of Oberlin admits posted to the Master beginning 3/26.</p>
