<p>I've been first in both instruments at a local orchastra for the last couple years, as well as my school, and I've had about 8 years of experiance with both instruments. How does Yale view an instrument less widely played like the oboe in regards to admission?</p>
<p>I would check with the orchestra and see if any seats are opening up. If so, you could have a huge edge, if not, then they won't care.</p>
<p>It depends if there are other students with impressive applications who are good oboe players :) If your tape is really amazing, it's a hook. If not, it would make the same impact as Taiko drumming or an award-winning rhythmic gymnast--it's just interesting.</p>
