Yeah, Yale obliterated my friends and such. Mostly deferrals, one or two rejections, and a few acceptances. The acceptances had low 1500's, high 1400's, and barely in top 5%. I guess they had great essays and stuff. It was pretty ridiculous this year, and almost random. Of course, my point of view is very limited, since most of the people I'm talking about are prep school kids etc. I'm sure they like public school kids with the same stats better.

my question:
Was there a Why Yale essay when you guys applied? Because there isn't one that I can find. I don't want to miss writing an entire essay, that won't be good.
Anyways, good luck to everyone, both those accepted and those applying to places RD.

If you're looking at the Yale supplemental application, on the back of the paper there's a small section somewhere around the middle (a few sentences) that says something like Supplementary essay...at least that's what i remember.

Good luck!

On the Yale Supp App, there's an essay on a meaningful activity, and a few lines on how your interest in Yale developed.

so the 'interest in yale' thing isn't really an admissions factor, more of them wondering what marketing methods are the best? Just wondering. anyways, on to applications.

I don't think it had much of an effect.

I talked about the residential colleges and I'm guessing a lot of people here did as well. Therefore, I doubt it makes much a difference. Unless, you discover an aspect of Yale that even the adcoms were not aware of.

I talked about how I couldn't pinpoint my interest in Yale as arising from one specific incident, and how Yale simply inspired me.

Based on what happened at my school, I think essays played a huge role this round..

It wouldn't surprise me...I'm glad I spent as much time on them as I did...
