actually i may get only ~600-640 in CR.Most of the mistakes i make are from passage reading.I have no problem in vocabulary.

However, i find myself hard to familiarize with unfamiliar topics from passages within a RATHER SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, which i think is my headache. What i can do to max my reading speed, which means to skim quicker while grasping the theme of passages since i overrun severely when it comes to duel long passages.

Did you try reading the passages in small chunks? Usually the questions are in order with the lines of the passage. Read the question, then read a bit of the passage just enough to answer the question. Then read the next question and read on the passage to answer it, and so on… Leave the general questions (asking the main purpose of the passage) for last. You will always be concentrated on the relevant lines this way. According to my experience, this method saves time.
Always underline important lines and words mentioned in the passage; they will be on your focus.

actually sometimes i feel like i can’t completely focus on the article due to time constraint.
i may try to skim but sometimes i fail to decipher the message in the article…quite frustrated…but thx anyway

sigh…still overrun 7 mins with 4 wrong answers
what can i do :(

I’m not sure if you already use this method or not, but I’ll just say it and I hope it helps. Here is the way I deal with long passages: I read the all of the first and last paragraphs and I only read the first sentence of each paragraph in between. Now, this might seems reckless, but trust me, it is really helpful and effective. Try it because even when the portion you’re supposed to read to answer a question is not in the parts that you have read already, you’d still have line reference. This way, you make sure that you don’t read things that are not mentioned in the questions (or things that have no questions based on). When you master this technique, you’d realize that it helps you avoid reading useless portions. Hope this helped! Goodluck!

why should i read all of the first and the last paragraphs and the first sentence of other paragraphs in between???
is it useful to grasp the motif of the passage??
is it useful to tackle different kinds of passages???

anyway, what is your score of your CR out of 800???

anyone can help me??

My score always ranges between 600 and 650. I would blame the vocabulary for my score, mostly. Anyways, try that method and you’ll probably see significant improvement!

Not reading the entire passage does NOT work.

I can read through all the words of the passage, grasp all the information, and finish the questions with many minutes left – regardless of passage length. SAT passages tend to be really boring but complex; simply reading every few sentences will make it all go straight over your head. Trust me. It’s happened before.

I agree with tomatox1
