any thoughts?

anyone?..

All appear to offer very good educational opportunities, but weather and location wise, I would say Oxy wins hands down.

Just based on our own research, I think you will find more diversity at Occidental and Grinnell. More of an overall prep feel at Hamilton. Did you post these on the other college threads? More action on those, generally, but it might be difficult to find someone who knows them all.

How about academics?

Maybe you can formulate some specific questions about academics (is it class size, discussion quality, workload etc. you’re interested in??) and pose these on each college’s forum. As I said, this forum is pretty quiet, and plus this is not a common mix of schools to be applying to.

maybe you could also post this on the college search and selection forum.

This is interesting because I will be going to Oxy next year and my sister is at Hamilton. Hamilton has better academics, worse weather and surrounding area. It is basically in the middle of nowhere. Occidental has top 30 liberal arts academics, better weather and better surrounding area (Los Angeles). Don’t know much about Grinnell.

wazsnipes is your sister happy at Hamilton?

how hard does she say it it there?

I would definitely go for Oxy… I love the weather and global environment
Grinnell is so cold…really it snows all winter
just FYI: Idk a lot about Hamilton, but my friends say it’s a college with good education but not much fun.

Grinnell is ranked very high, I beleive 15th overall for LAC’s. I don’t personally care about rankings though. It’s a very academic school and has an incredible reputation. It’s cold there, but the kids who go can’t say enough good things about it. It has a very diverse campus and takes about 12% international students. They have one of the largest endowments around and it shows. The campus is amazing with top notch facilities. It’s a small school in an isolated area, but that is what makes it so wonderful. The students are very close knit and the school spends incredible amounts of money bringing in entertainment. Everything is free to the students so you don’t need a lot of money. I could go on and on. Where are you from? You really need to visit them to get a clearer picture of the differences as they are vast. Please let me know if you have any questions about Grinnell.
