<p>Is NU's OChem class really as hard as it has been made out to be? I plan on going to med school and hope that OChem will not ruin that goal for me...</p>
<p>Ochem as a class is not terribly difficult as most people make it out to be. It will be manageable if you study hard and practice a lot. </p>
<p>There’s a thing that the science students here call the ‘NU smiley face.’ It tracks your GPA through the four years at NU–I don’t think that needs further explanation.</p>
<p>The reason: The typical NU student ends up having to take the bio sequence and the ochem sequence at the same time. Not a good courseload to have. Ochem is difficult on top of that, but I think that’s the real killer. You have to really want to do well in the course, and be willing to put in the time and effort. But if you’re willing, you can get through.</p>
