Oct 9th SAT- scores being investigated....

yeah i could see that as reason for a lot of scores being investigated. but i have a 4.4 gpa and have never made a C so i think theyre investigating mine because of the discrepancy between my previous SAT score and this one. This sucks… I hope they get released within the next few weeks so i am still applicable for ED

This is not true at all. They will not investigate based on grades in school. They will investigate if you get a significantly higher SAT score than on a previous SAT.

I misbubbled on the PSAT math and got a 43… I pretty sure I got an 80 this time around.

I guess I just did the “statistically impossible!”

Oh really? So my dad, who is a guidance counselor at the school totally heard wrong about why those scores are being withheld? The school had collegeboard suspend the scores until a proper investigation is carried out, such as to determine whether or not the kids were cheating. If a kid gets a 70 in algebra and geometry, then suddenly scores a 650 on the SAT math, he must one lucky ■■■■.

Pardon me if i believe a guidance counselor at the school where it happened over you.

hi sometimes the score is delayed not due to investigation- somethign juz went wrong
they will investigate scores if the total score goes up 400 or higher compared to the previous test ( it has nothing to do with performance in class)

Believe who you want but getting a 70 in a math class and a 650 on the math section is not that rare. The math section is very different from your high school math classes.

Also your school never has to see your SAT scores. They are completely independent of each other.

“I heard from my SAT tutors that CB considers anything over a 350 point increase in around a year “statistically impossible”, which is why they flag it. I also heard that you have to re-take it and get something similar to your original score in order for CB to believe you. CB these days…:|”

Unlikely. I went from 1910 (March 2010) to 2340 (October 2010). That’s a 430 point increase and no red flag.

Maybe they flag students which had lower ‘start’ scores such as 1400 and went up to a 1700, that would be more unlikely than someone that already had a 1910 which is a great high score to begin with

Atleast you know you guys did well ■■■■■

My scores got withheld, too, but I took the subject tests, and even though I had taken them before, these were completely different subjects than from what i had taken. Is it that some are just being delayed? Or…

one of my friends went from 1600->2000 but he wasn’t investigated
but yes, at least you know you did significantly better this time around

Rofl I increased my score by 350 pts in my junior year, pure hard work! With a little luck on the test day. No investigation crap what soever that ppl keep telling on CC. I know lots of ppl having scores held back. My friend, for example, but he’s taking SAT subject test, and it’s his first time, so there’s no reason for it to be investigated. Hence, I don’t think the held back is because of score discrepancy, but for some other reason.

I don’t think that’s true.

Math in class is different. A lot of it is just memorizing formulas and using them in the same way. Someone who didn’t study or bother to learn the formulas or the math might fail, but might excel given an SAT problem that is more about logic. A lot of people just don’t want to study, might be absent a lot and not make up tests, or pay attention in class.

Today I found out that the reason why they are holding my SAT is because my CR + W score went up at least 400 points.

They said that if the combined score of any 2 sections exceeds 400 points more than the previous test or if 1 section exceeds 200 points more than the previous test, they will most likely keep it for “administrative review”

^so will they count?

i still dont know. they havent released my score yet. they just told me that my CR + W went up at least 400 points when i called today. They probably wont release my score for a few more weeks

My scores from 28 Oct 2010 are delayed too, waiting till 5 Nov 2010, has anybody that is waiting for this Friday already received their scores early?

Now I have to wait another week till Nov 12th! They give no information.

At the same time I did significantly worse in my Oct 9 SAT than my previous one…

thankfully it’s not canceled. I got 670 on CR and 780 on Math and writing… I basically bombed it. Still my super score is now 2100! :)
