Oct SAT vs Nov SAT

Hi everyone!

I'm a rising senior and planning to take the SAT I again in the fall, but I can't decide between taking it in October or taking it in November. I've heard numerous times that the November curve is much more generous than October's since typically most of the first-time juniors and last-minute cramming seniors (like me) take it in Oct. However, since I'm doing ED/ EA for college apps, November is REALLY last minute, which I don't like either.
Also, I'm planning to take the SAT II Math II in the fall as well, but that isn't as significant as my choice of date for the SAT I.

Any suggestions? Is the Oct SAT that much harder than Nov's, and is Nov much too last minute or ED/ EA?
Thanks!

It’s just a silly rumor that the SAT is easier in some months than others. That would defeat the entire purpose of the test. And better curve does not mean easier test. It means the questions are harder so you lose fewer points for getting them wrong. In the end, the College Board goes to extreme measures to make sure it evens out. Otherwise that would once again defeat the purpose of the test. It doesn’t matter who else is taking the test in that month. The curves are decided before the test date.

If you’re ready for October, take it in October. Nuff’ Said

You should take the SAT whenever you feel ready! the difficulty of each month’s SAT is balanced out by the curve (eg: hard test, generous curve and vice versa) so your scores should average out to be the same in the end.

since you’re planning on taking 2 tests (reasoning and math 2) and doing ED/EA you’ll have to take a test in both october and november since you won’t be able to take both on the same day (it would be insane to anyhow!) i’m not sure which schools you’re applying to, but for many schools the deadline is somewhere around the first few days of november, so it would be too late to even take an SAT then. i’m not positive on the deadlines for each school though, so double check to make sure your scores will be sent in time if you do decide to take both exams. Good luck!!

Thanks everyone! I think I’m going to take SAT I in Oct just to be safe.

@Purplepigeon, the schools that I searched up for ED/ EA say that Nov is the last test day (thank goodness!) that they’ll allow. I think I send my Nov test scores to colleges the day of the test or something like that - there’s a whole procedure for it that I’m not too sure of.
