October 09 - SC and CR summary list

@dubbyah

the author is saying that it is stereotypical of biographies of artists to have similar aspects as the first one about the shepard artist. There is nothing about the rural life itself.

It’s expediated not hobble.

@bell curves what was the question for that? I did not put hobble or expediated

Is it? That’s questionable. The consensus seems to be hobble. Hobble is "3. To hamper the action or progress of; impede. ", to expediate is “v. t. 1. To hasten; to expedite.”

I put expediated…not sure if it’s right though

I was wavering between hobble and expediate. I think hobble means to walk with a limp.

I can’t see how it could be expediate given that hobble means ‘to hamper the action or progress of, impede’ given that it would be used to describe a politician defaming another potential candidate.

I sure hope it’s hobble, cause that’s what I ended up putting.

I don’t exactly remember the “accidental” SC, what was the context of it again?

Re: wry… What was the precise question? What was the word that it was “most nearly in meaning to”?

according to dictionary def : Hobble - to walk with difficuly because your feet or legs are hurt:he hobbled home on his twisted ankle eg.

accidental: something about small changes in the migration patterns of birds
wry: the answer to the tone question about the women artists

what was the hobble question asking?

Does anyone remember EPIPHANY or RUSTIC???

Yes, I used the new edition of DH with the students I tutored. Lots of great hits including plasticity, admonition, redundancy, eclectic, edifying, wry. Also tons of words that were wrong answer but you could use process of elimination. I am still trying to remember more words/answers from the readings.

What were the other answer choices for the “accidental” question? I read Bell Curve’s context of the question but I can’t remember any of the answers or if I put that one down.

Scientists are evaluating if small changes in migration patterns are intentional or ACCIDENTAL
