October 2009 SAT II - Biology

hmmm i thought i put internal development but i might be wrong about that

Ok wat about the one that asked “according to evolution, how do we vew embryo developement?”

I was between it was identical in all mammals and it was more similar for more closely related species…I think the latter was the obvious and correct answr…but idk

oh it was the long gestation period

for the embryological development one, i put differences (not all identical, that would just be crazy)

damn it, that’s -3 now (-4 due to stupid .25 off). any chance that would still be an 800>?

Idk…for vertebrates the formation of embryos follows a pritty standard development…isnt fetal development where it starts to get really different

was it compare dna for distinguishing the two crab species?

the embryo, it was closer related animals have more similar embryological development

wait tinks is that referring to my question or sum1 else’s?

someone elses. yes it was dna dont worryy =)

Wasn’t it DNA?

well it says mammal embryos begin to look different as organogenesis begins… so i didn’t assume they were all the same

oh yea the marsupial q…
:frowning: that one was hard; i just chose internal development, but i really had no clue
its weird cuz marsupials never showed up on any practice tests i took :/

Dang then I missed 2 questions so far = (…

Wikipedia says the following about Marsupials which implies that long gestation period is not the answer and that internal development is correct:

Pregnant females develop a kind of yolk sac in their wombs, which delivers nutrients to the embryo. Marsupials give birth at a very early stage of development (about 4–5 weeks); after birth, newborn marsupials crawl up the bodies of their mothers and attach themselves to a nipple, which is located inside the marsupium.

wait, whats the answer for the marsupial q?
edit: so it is internal?!?

they both have internl but marsupials are born early n then thy go into the pouch to finish development. so it is long gestation period

yea the marsupial one isn’t internal development, it’s the gestation period instead. ■■■■■■■■, we got asked some of the weirdest questions on this test.

felt like the first 60 questions were just one big Bio ecology section.

^^ agreed “felt like the first 60 questions were just one big Bio ecology section.”
i didnt even know what gestation meant on the test:/

Ok am I correct in this then:

DNA was the answer for determining different crap species (got it wrong =/)…my problem with that answer was that one determines a species based upon their ability to interbreed and produce fertile offspring. Thus, one would need to analyze the morphological aspects of an animal to really get a direct grasp on that.

Marsupial one= internal fertilization

Homology= more similar=more related (got this one wrong)

umm marsupial was gestation period…
i thought we just solved this
and what was homology? i dont even rememeber that on the test?
