October 2009 SAT II - Physics

I think you glanced over III because I remember it saying U = Q + W not Q - W. I got only II for this.

the heat equation is Q=U+W, what are you talking about?

U = Q + W when W is work done on the object, I believe, which is what the question was saying. I remember worrying about that. I think. Ahaha.

lol typo, yeah that’s what I meant.

wait but Q = U + W is right…it’s II and III isn’t it?

Oh and for the equivalent resistance one, was it 2 1 ohm resistors connected in parallel and then in series witha 2 ohm resistor?

For the elastic collision, why doesn’t the ball move straight down? why does it move in the x-direction as well?

The ball moving vertically has no force to cancel out the force of the ball moving right. So the ball moving right will move SE after collision

for the incline question with graphs… was the graph Energy-time or Energy-displacement?
if the graph was energy-time, PE should be inverted U, if the graph was energy-displacement, it should be inverted V

I am soooo stupid.

I took the test going in with only 3-4 months of physics (2 of these were at an advanced course at a community college and the rest was just at my high school, where we are only beginning Force and KE and PE.)

So i went into the test with basically zero prep and danggggg i got slaughtered.

I guessed on 8/10 questions and im wondering if its too late for me to have a chance in physics.

I scored 700+ on 4 other (nonscience) sat 2’s and i really need to get a 700+ in physics sat 2 if i want to become an engineerrrrrrrr

so aaaaaa what should i do?

btw: i guessed C on the last 5 questions, did i get any of these? :/

I figured since its a 1:4 ratio that i might as well guess, and by the rate i was going on the test it probably didnt matter.

^ If you only guessed on 8-10 q’s, don’t worry, because the curve in physics is -12 = 800…, -30 is the published value for 700, but if I were you I’d just sign up for the november SAT anyway, you can rush the scores from Nov and they’ll be there in time for EA/ED schools.

no, i meant i guessed on 80% of the questions.

interference refraction deflection defraction

they all sound teh same to me :/

i still cant believe i went in there with almost 0 prep haha >.<

i did get some right i think, like the block going up and down and the point A one.

but other than that…im scared tbh

oh…well if you get 2/3rds of the q’s that’s a 700, but if you want a good score just sign up for november and get a pair of review books and do them straight through (PR + Barrons); they help a lot.

Do you guys remember the question regarding ‘what is the minimum apparatus required for measuring…acceleration of the system’? was it only balance?

eh no…meter rule and stop watch

I’m not sure about it…i thought we could just use a=F/(M+m), where F=mg. so, using that, only balance would be needed. how did u think about it?

No, I believe you needed both meter stick and stopwatch.

This month’s PHYSICS was pretty hard, compared to practice tests…

I too chose metre stick and stopwatch.

i just chose the balance…

whats the curve on physics? who knows…
cause i felt the worst on it
