October 2010 ACT Reading Thread

Wait I just want to know the answer to the question asking the main idea of the mexican art passage.

The answer to the main idea for mexican muralist was that the focus of an exciting/creative part of the muralist’s career. I don’t remember the exact wording though

yea, anyone remember what they put for main idea of mexican art passage?

polyosophy, u mean the one with america in it?

Was that the one where it referenced the last paragraph? There was one where it referenced the last paragraph and the answer to that one was that the painter did better in Mexico than in the U.S.

WHOA, what do you mean he was happy cause he thought the radio was beautiful?
What question was that???

I put the main idea was the USA/Mexico thing…Choice A ? idk.

no it def wasn’t comparing his artwork between usa/mexico. He was happy because the buyer had a personal connection with the radio.

ok that’s what I put on the radio one. OK What was the answer to that one fisawalab ?

i can’t remember what i put lol im trying to have others remember for me

I’m pretty sure it said something along the lines of “he could see the excitement in the buyers eyes as he agreed to the price” something like that. The question SPECIFICALLY asked for something supported in the paragraph and there was nothing about negotiating in the passage

loosely or strictly chronological?

i put strict, but i realize now that he put something about ancient china later in the paragraph, so it would be loosely, but im not sure.

Loose.

And for the one about why he was happy that the guy bought the radio, I put that the buyer had an emotional connection with it. I remember it saying that the narrator was even happier after the buyer talked about how it reminded him of his past.

It was loose. He jumps back in time in the second paragraph and toward the end, I believe.

He wasn’t trying to hide his enthusiasm, and technically the buyer did negotiate the price because he quickly changed from $120 to $125.

lol, dsfrances sorry for nitpicking but i think it was from $100 to $125

Haha, no problem. Whatever it was. It seems like so long ago now it doesn’t even matter.

You guys think reading will have +1 curve or 0 curve?

im hoping for a +1…but its ACT, sooo 0

hey for the roses passage one did anyone get hybrid tea leaves?
or was it something else T_T
