October 2010 Writing SAT thread

hmmm, I thought the writing portion was the easiest and I think I got maybe -1 or -2.

Can we actually make a consolidated list instead of randomly asking Q’s. This thread isnt very organized as of now.

@ tornado question

the answer was “as a result of”
the answer choice with “which results…” is incorrect because “which” refers to the tornado, not the collision - the collision happens because of “the change…” and the tornado happens as a result of the collision
therefore the answer was C “as a result of…”

were there any diction errors? I couldn’t find any =/

YES!!! Was the mammal one the only NE?

For the choose the error section, I had 0 no errors.

I got mammal - NE

@Jacmoo: Seconded.

i think i had 1 or 2 no error. and one was the “continuing emphasizing”

What was the mammal question?

I had 1 or maybe 2 no errors.

Only 1 No Error.

Writing was a joke…seriously, “would of”?

I marked the “continuing emphasizing” as incorrect. I believe it should have been “continuing emphasis.”

but emphasizing is a noun in that case.

^ no its continued emphasis. Was the my friend and I one a NE. I got “as a result” to for the tornado one. Did anyone get the essay about the importance of valuing the outdoors and apprecition for one’s natural environment?? That essay was some BS.

No it was friend and me. I really hope that the mammal was NE

@theRADtomato47: Yeah I got that one haha. I just made stuff up for the essay and used Into the Wild.

Dam, my friend and I was my gut feeling…

Haha, It’s frustrating when you second guess yourself. It was supposed to be an objective pronoun

I made up some BS stats for the outdoors essay, like america is buisnesses and offices (put some fake percentage in there) and then said that business people have high stress and outdoors relieve that stress. I also used a crappy personal anecodote about how the outdoors stimulates thinking. I didn’t use any historical or literary examples, ■■■.

I knew it was between you and me, and since among is also a preposition(right?) I reasoned that it would also have an objective pronoun after it.
