October 2011 SAT International Writing

@specific but that just as_so too was one of the improving sentences tho

nah. I was talking about the Error finding sections. Sentence improvement questions are good for me. At maximum, I get 1-2 wrong but Error finding questions kill me.

In addition, my essay wasn’t that great either.

i remember smt if the doctors could read patients’ mind (as well as) reah x-ray they (would not have had) to do smt. I thought the would not have had was wrong. anybody with the same answer?

sofiapham, you are right. “would have had” should simply be “would have”

For the improving paragraphs, they asked the purpose of the first sentence. Which was something like, “My teacher gave us xxxx book to read…”

Does anyone remember what was the purpose of that line.

i think i put source of his interest later on or something like that…

yep I bubbled the same answer though I am not pretty good in reading passages. So need a confirmation.

my improving paragraph answers were
source of his interest
i was eager to read more of the author's
i did not really want to read the book because i thought i would not like it
the heroes who over came conventional obstacles and with whom i can identify
while she was watching a movie or smt, she decided she could write a better story so she turned off the tv …

i think i pretty much got what you got … what did everyone else get for the ‘heroes’ one?

same
that one is pretty straightforward i guess?

for the butterfly one what does the “anyone” emphasize?
i put comprehensive scope of his skepticism…

zytcan me too

What were the options for the anyone question???
I think they were bitterness, skepticism, …anyone?

@zytcan same as me
@sofiapham I also answer the source of interest.

This time I answer many Qs similar to many people, hope my score will improved T^T

just as _ so is correct

I am confident with this Question because I tried to memorize it for June SAT. I cannot forget it. it run in my mind all time-Just as…so (too).

For the butterfly…
Is the anyone bitterness??

butterfly is last year’s experimental section, the man visit old grandmas too, so I did these 2 section again, only a section about construction was new to me,luckily it was easy.

i chose skepticism too,I think D is too extreme.

do any of you remember what you got for the tone of Adrian Wenner in the butterflies one? there was ‘dismissive’ and something else i dont remember …

anyone remembers the sentence about Hamlet? I picked ‘suggested to search’ cuz I thought it was suggested searching or sth, ‘suggested to’ did not make sense to me :(
