October 2011 SAT Reading

and are you positive the art passage was “personal and reflective?” I put “cautiously argumentative” because it seemed like he was slightly arguing about arts and i don’t really see how the passage was “reflective.” Personal, perhaps but definitely not “reflective”

at subsidize the sentence said “I wanted to get along”

I put "dedication but now that i think about it, it seems more of “disappointment” ugh. i really want a 750 +

was one of the sentence completion about peacock and feathers, and was the answer plumage or something?

Also was apostasy an answer too?

@cortana431
was stuck between the two, put personal and reflective. can anyone confirm the right answer?

Sonic7 that must’ve been an experimental. It doesn’t sound familiar and all.

@cortana: If we’re using “reflective” to mean contemplative or thoughtful, I think that describes the passage pretty well.

I fully support Subsidize’s list of answers… even though I got a bunch wrong. Lol. Visit page 14 for answers.

The only ones I see so far up for debate are the vehement/caustic and hypothetical/alternative. I think the answer is vehement because the author was judging coal with statistics and wasn’t really bitter about it. I think the answer was alternative because hypothetical seems strange. I honestly don’t know. I got both of them wrong.

@cortana
The question was “Humans have the capacity to use hindsight for foresight” or something. In other words, learning lessons from the past.

was the answer “e”? the hindsight and foresight made me pick it; i don’t remember what the “e” was though.

@Nikanon
personal+reflective is correct

I put “hypothetical” for that question.

I think the answer choices suck overall on the CR. They are really ambiguous for some of them and vague for others. could be better.

What are the other answer choices to the question which had the correct answer, "Both authors agreed that nuclear power has been “controversial” "

Also wasn’t there something like that both authors considered the negative aspects of blah blah. I don’t remember so clearly.

^sour apple, that was two different question I think

For the Walden passage is everyone sure the answer was “appropriately scientific”? I put long and exhausting to read - both “exhaustive” and “exhausting” were written in the passage.

also for the financially _____ answer - what was the question? I forget that one question but remember putting a different answer.

any ideas for -3 and -1(omit)? 750+?

WE’re still not certain about the “vehement” one. Could just as easily be "caustic

And right now I have 4 wrong assuming the list above is correct (I excluded vehement/caustic). What would -4 most likely be?

I couldn’t decide between “handling” and “management”, so I picked something else. Probably a stupid idea… T.T

so far I missed 4…
dang…I’m scared to compare any more answers with u guys
I have to have to get a 740 on this ugh I feel like I’m gonna have to retake…

I just counted…so we already compiled 50 answers
17 more to go
wut r the chances that I don’t miss more than 2 in those 17 questions? :((

what is a -7 on CR? and for the primary concern for the nuke one was the answer D? ( I dont remember the answer choice just the letter)

@pinknotebook: Exhausted and exhaustive were both used in the passage–to describe work opposite that of Walden’s.

or for Walden - humanly centered or whatever…still think it was long/exhausting

Disregard. Apologies.

for the art and life passage,
Concrete reality vs abstract art seems to be the consensus, but was that choice A or B? If i remember correctly, A had something about the world, or the outside world?

minus 7 on CR will probly be a 710-720
