Hi guys,

good luck guys. this test will be extremely hard so study well! With the June SAT mess up, all the smart kids will be disappointed with their June scores. When a bunch of smart kids take the October test, the curve will be drastically harder so less people will get 2400s
Wowee i though the curve is not affected by the kids scores good or bad but predetermined before is this not so can somrone plz verify or correct me
@SATBandit, you’re correct. The curve IS predetermined.
AverageFail is right: predetermined. But to use Pokemon1’s logic, if the June mess up will cause a lot of smart kids to take the Oct test, than it will equally cause a lot of dummies to take the Oct test as well.
So, you’re studying hard not because of the scale, but because you want to score high.
@CCswami: What are you scoring on the SAT right now?
I really don’t want to have to take this test again, so I hope the curve will be decent…
Hi guys,
I am currently sleeping with the Blue Book right now.
I am aming for 2300-ish
Let’s work hard together.
My current practice test scores are around 2310 but the CR keeps pulling my leg. But i dont want to waste my test so i will study for a whole month and aim for the perfect score.
Anyone care to share his or her frustrations or experiences as the person preps for the October test. I can barely pick up a book. I’ve been busy crafting my almost perfect college application. The essays to be precised are killing me. Each essay needs a different form of thinking. And internships have become so many that i cannot go to some of my work places. I’m almost fed up with this whole thing.
Hey, im a rising senior in canada taking the sat for the second time in october. The first time was an absolute joke and i got a 1730. I was sick, got 4 hours of sleep, didnt eat much (im smart, promise), and i was so stressed i couldnt focus at all while taking the test !! Since then i have literally been through every prep book you could imagine and ive brought my score up to a 2200-2300 which is my goal. Although i was around a 1850 when i took it for the first time, last may, so the improvement isnt too amazing. I went through princeton review, college board, etc but
undoubtedly the barrons books focused on one subject only are the best prep books.
Ive done those three and have been taking a practice test a day (i have about 60 practice tests from all the books), and that has brought my score up immensely. I’m not too focused on getting a perfect 2400 because i have a good hook. So hopefully it goes well in october, question:
How do you stay calm on the sat?
i mean i could take it in novemeber if i needed to aswell …
@kentonpalmer My friends told me that the barrons books do not help so I stop using it and my score has been pretty constant for a while. My major problem is the writing section and i will like to know whether you used the barrons writing too?
Hey guys!
I am doing the sat this October for the first time and my weak section is the essay (the rest except maths is just okay)
Can anyone tell me how to write a good intro and conclusion?
Any help would be appreciated…
@Baymax00
If you have a facebook account, like The Atlantic and read every essay they write. Make a collection of phrases u find appealing and use it in ur essay.
But I seriously need help on the critical reading section. How do you not get tricked by the long passage question? What do you do not to loose focus?
@DressingIron
Nice job on your test!! CR800 has been my dream! Do you have any tips you would like to share??
Hi I am a junior, i did a test last year and got a 1880 (very bad I know) now after studying I average at 2080 and have recently been getting in the low 2100s recently, I hope I could get up to a 2250.
Math is fine I usually get 750-800 ( most of the time 780) 2 mistakes overall
Writing I get in the very high 600s or low 700s because of the essay, ( 8 for essay) 2-5 mistakes overall
Critical reading , I imporved a lot on the vocab questionns (1-8 etc) and rarely make a mistake although my weakness is in the long passage based readings etc, I average at 3 mistakes per sections
Hi. I’m a rising senior hoping to raise a 2030 to a 2250+, if possible.
Re the 2014 SATs - pm me, I might be able to help
i’m a rising senior taking the SAT for the third and last time in october! my mom said she’d buy me a car if i got a 2200+ so that’s my goal! last time i took it was in June and i got a 2020. Writing is my best section by far(750) but my essay (9) is holding me back :(. For critical reading and math(630/640 respectively) all i can do is prepare. the first time i took it in march i got a 1910. i need to get down to business tho
My first SAT was the botched June 6th test, so I’m taking advantage of the free retest. I’m a Senior now, so this’ll be my last attempt. My June 6th scores were pretty poor - 650 CR, 570 M, 610 W (with a 7 on the essy), total: 1830. I had just started getting perfect scores in the CR sections when doing College Board practice tests, so the grading curve must have been really harsh to make up for the two sections which got thrown out.
Promised myself I’d get a Wacom Intuos Pro tablet if I get 2250+ on this test (I want to beat my sibling’s score) so here goes. I’m reading/implementing the SAT Prep Black Book as well as using a copy of the Blue Book on loan from the public library.
