@jpgrainer How did you figure out how many questions you missed in each section??
Took ACT first time today! I felt that English was by far the easiest test I have ever taken. Math i felt was pretty dang hard. Harder than most I have seen… I also encountered questions I had never seen before (that one average test score one mutated into something i didnt know how to solve). I felt reading was pretty difficult as well as science. My prediction: English 34, Math 28, Science 26, Reading 28 . I basically only prepared for Math and English which was a definite mistake.
@lhw1998 if you have taken the test before(I think only in the past 3 months) you can download a score report PDF
You go to your ACT scores and in the top right corner there is a link allowing you to download a score report.
It tells you a TON of info. Each subsection questions correct, percentiles, career stuff.
Predicted curve for the test? Especially for math. I think i got 4 math questions wrong so I’m pretty worried.
@Anonymous261 if you look above in this thread @Jpgranier said on the September test with 3 wrong in math, still got a 35. Who knows how the October curve will compare…
@Meant2B I think this curve might be even more generous, but I’m not sure. This test seemed much harder than usual
@Meant2B and @Ihw1998 Is it agreed that the math section is harder than usual. Because if it is, we can hope for a generous curve?
For the September ACT math curve was it -2: 36 and -3: 35 or -1: 36 and -2 to -3: 35
@lhw1998 this thread seems to indicate the test today was fairly difficult, yet to see how it compares to the September curve. I sure hope you’re right!!
I think the best way to prepare for math now is to study for SAT math level 2 ^:)^
did anyone else think that math section was worse than any practice?
If you don’t mind my asking, what do you like to use to study for SAT II Math? I’ve heard Dr. Jon Chung’s materials are pretty great.
Wow. First time taking a real test. I thought I did well on everything except the science. I didn’t think the math section was that hard though? I probably fell into some of their “trap” answers and just didn’t realize it.
@ajohiostate is that from the September test or are you in another country?
I don’t recall finding any resource that shows you the official curve but it’s pretty clear that it’ll be lenient.
In terms of difficulty I would say( from easiest to hardest)
Writing > Reading > Science > Math
I didn’t run out of time on any part but I did guess once on reading, twice on science and three times on math.
My D constantly get a 33-34 on math, 33 in September and feels like she missed 9. Overall, it sounds like for my D
English slightly easier than average
Math most difficult by far
Reading slightly easier than usually
Science average to slightly easier
Feuf! So glad people are in agreement about the math being harder. I usually LOVE the math section, as in look forward to it. It is oddly fun to solve the problems.
I usually get around a 32-35 on the math.
This time however, I feel like I may have bombed it. I had at least 4 questions I had skipped and didn’t get to come back to because of time. And I had others I was shaky on.
The Science portion was the easiest one I have taken by far. The opposing viewpoints one was quite simple, and the viewpoints were practically bulleted for you so you didn’t have to read too carefully. Also my version has the most involved passage at the end, and because the rest was easier I had plenty of time to read it carefully.
I would guess curves for this test would be similar to 2015-2016 ACT booklet, with math being more lennitent.
Yea I agree the the math was the hardest. Does anyone know when the ACT releases the curve table?
And I think scores are being released November 8th…is that true?
