***October 2016 ACT Thread***

@Elsaliz yes that’s true.

If I got around 6 wrong for math (just a guess here), what would be the rough estimate of the score. I think the scoring will be generous but not that generous.

How do yall think the curve will be?

My son said that the ACT today was way more difficult than the PSAT he took earlier this week. Is that normal?

@Rollout There are plenty of students who prefer the SAT over the ACT. I personally thought the reading and English on this act were easier than their PSAT counterparts. It should be noted that the PSAT/SAT does not have a science section. I struggled with it on this act which made me view the whole test as harder.

As a first sitting of the ACT, I definitely felt as if the Science, English, and Reading were much easier than expected. I wouldn’t be surprised if I got at most one wrong on the Science/English, but I, unfortunately, couldn’t finish the Reading or Math section… However, Reading was still easier, and I only didn’t finish like 3-4 questions. For Math, though, I though it was definitely harder than expected. I’ve taken many practices of the Math section, but yesterday was much harder than I have experienced…

Could everyone say what there normal math scores are and how many you think you missed. I want to get a sense of what the math curve will be.
For my D she usually get 33-34 and says she missed 9-10

@parent8768 I’m in pretty much the same position. I’ve taken the ACT 3 times and I’ve scored a 29 (I was a sophomore and I had no idea what I was doing), a 33 and a 34 on the math sections. Math has always been my strong suit, but I honestly feel like I missed around 6-9 questions this time.

How could you possibly know how many you missed? they do not release the september october or feb tests…

You can estimate how many you missed.

@zxcvbnm1216 I pretty much agree with everything you said, the science will be the anchor on my composite score. I understand it will probably be a forgiving curve, but there was a section of it I had no idea how to do.

Is writing scored out of 12 or 36?

12 @Rollout

huh… unlike everyone on this thread i thought this test was much easier than usual (def easier than any practice i took)
math was easy, reading i got luck bc i could actually understand all of the passages, science was sometimes tricky but not really “hard”, english was hardest but not by much

writing was actually kind of trippy, hopefully i do well

^— As it goes, “there’s always that one guy.

The consensus is certainly that it was above average in difficulty, throughout all sections for the most part.
The essay was quite nice though, what did you all think? Last ACT’s topic was a bit hard to write about, but this one seemed much more natural and relatable.

@AGoodFloridian of course there is always that one guy, but this one felt a lot easier than practices, so… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

for the essay topic, i thought that it was pretty relatable, but i thought it was hard to find good concrete detail, so overall my essay was weaker than i wished it was

^^^^

I actually put all Cs for the last 6 of the science section cuz I ran out of time… Do you think I’m gonna get all wrong…is it okay to ask how u feel about the last passage on the science? I mean regarding me choosing all Cs…

@lhw1998 Why did you cover for your 29 with the defense that you had no idea what you were doing? That’s better than >90% of test takers. Surely you had some idea of what you were doing…
