October 6 SAT math

(x+5)(x-8), answer was -4.

Grrr... Are you sure those were the numbers?

really?

I should basically quit life. What's the latest SAT date I can submit to colleges? I think I might change my subject tests and take the SAT in Nov.

Nvm, I see what you were saying duper.

Hold on. it was <0? i could have sworn it was =0

it has to be -5. -5 is less than -4, and -4 does not give you 0

Plug in -5, you get zero. Which is not < 0. Therefore you go onto the next integer, -4.

Also, -5 is WAY too easy of an answer considering that was one of the later questions. This is an arbitrary corollary to my argument, but the answer is -4.

Can anyone explain why the trapezoid problem wasn't 48 to me?

Math question?

There are 50 teachers at a school. 21 read the Inquierer and 24 read the Reporter. If 12 read neither, how many read both?

A. 5
B. 7
C. 12

Was this experimental?

that was 7. so wait..... it asked for <0? are you sure? that sucks

should be seven i think....If 12 read neither than inside the venn diagram we would have 38 total. 21+24=45. 45-38=7

Does anyone remember the trapezoid question I'm asking about?

Quantumpencil, the sides of the two triangles on the right and the left were 6 and 8. They're both 3-4-5 triangles; therefore, the hypotenuse must be 10. The hypotenuses of the two triangles make up the base and height of the shaded triangle. 10x10 divide by 2 = 50.

Damnit. So, I missed like 4 at least. Do you guys think I should just switch the subject tests and take another reasoning test in Nov, or wait til' Dec?

does anyone remember the pie charts question? and answer? it had like 1/3 of 1/3

Yeah that was right. There had to be at least 2/3rd who didn't take it at all, o it was the the 1/3 with the 1/3 of that shaded differently.

yeah, you are right. that is exactly what i did.

yeah, i remember this. i think the answer was d or e.

are you serious it was 1/3 of 1/3? geez i suck at reading on the math section

im taking my subject tests in nov and then the normal sat in december again. i want to have more time to study, and i also want to get my qas back. so im waiting. you get your scores back oct 25th, and then the test is november 3rd. i want to have more time to learn to fix what i did wrong.

well i am not 100 percent sure. but i think it was.

im pretty sure it was 1/3 did this, 1/3 did that, and 1/3 something else. if i recall correctly, it was a earlier question too. And calculating angles then applying that would have been a lot more work. But then again, i did misread that stupid question where i put -5 instead of -4. sat math is crap. Stick with the act. im never taking this crappy test again

I feel the same way. I always thought I was good at math before this test... I aced the AP Calc tests, 36 on ACT Math, yet this completely owns me every time.

Argh.
