October ACT

So, just checked and my october act has not been released yet. Should I email the admissions office to let them know of this or will they assume if my scores arent in by now, it is probably not out yet. Will this lead to me an automatic deferral? I took ACT once in Septermber, comp.35. So bottom line, will they automatic defer me or will they use my september if my october score is not in yet before the decision day.

You already have one ACT score on file (I’m assuming you sent in the September one), so they will evaluate you based on that. And a 35 is an exceptional score. It’s high enough for Harvard. You shouldn’t even worry about the October score.

Besides, it is most likely too late for the October score to be considered. Someone in the SCEA Discissiom thread said that they had spoken with an admissions officer, and anything sent in beyond this week is too late to be considered. And admissions decisions come out on Thursday.

I wrote that I took october act on my application on future testing. Will they just disregard that at this point? So, will they just treat it as if I never took the october act and just look at my september score? Thanks, i know it is good, but i am worried that they might not evaluate my file with missing parts.

also, i guess this is the most important question, should i email them and tell them it is not released yet and ask them to look at my september test instead?

If I were you, I wouldn’t call or email them. I’m guessing they have already evaluated you at this point. Like I said, 35 is a beautiful score, and it’s within Harvard’s range. I really don’t think you have anything to worry about.

I had a similar situation for Dartmouth ED. Applied with a 35 ACT (September), and took the October ACT for the heck of it. Somehow, I scored a 36, and all I did was send the score to admissions through an update Word doc. They confirmed receipt of my score on December 1st (technically when all decisions are pretty much finalized), so I’d say you’re in good shape. Definitely pressure ACT, Inc. to hurry up though. However, 35 ACT should be no problem whatsoever if you ACTUALLY cannot get the score in time.

Oh, my score isn’t even released yet so nothing for october

ACT scores are updated every Wednesday and Friday. So it wouldn’t reach Harvard in time.
