October SAT Test Prep. Books

Okay, it's very embarrassing for me to write my SAT scores here..but it's 470 CR / 590 Math / 580 Writing...I have no idea HOW I got this score even though I've study so hard for it..But I'm going to study harder and harder until I understand the trick to the test. So I would like to ask your advice to which prep. books I should intently study and use to improve for the Oct. SAT test.

I currently have 5 different practice test books (the blue official SAT collegeboard book, Kaplan SAT book, Princeton Review's 11 Practice Test book, Barron's SAT book, and Gruber's SAT book). So my question is which SAT practice test book(s) will enhance my ability to do better?

*I would appreciate any advice, so help!

Barron's 2400 is extremely good.

Oh, I guess I need to check that out then. Thanks!

How Good is Barron's 2400? Like what exactly is it good for? Is it for practice or learning or what? I have it but I havent used it yet. Ive just just Collegeboard's SAT book aka Blue Book.

Well, I don't have Barron's 2400 but I would also like to know what it's specifically good for.

So which book out of the 5 listed above should I mostly use to improve my SAT scores?

Barron's 2400 is very good for harder problems. The strategies are ok, but I didn't like them that much (my favorite for strategies is the Fiske SAT guide).

Doesn't Barrons Book have a tendency to overprepare you and essentially you're not preparing at the same level as the ETS has give you on the test?

For Reading: I use Barrons because I need overpreparation for this. Is there another book besides Collegeboard's book?

For Writing: I use Kaplan.. not sure if its really good tho

For Math: Im kinda 750+ on it everytime so im not too worried abt that.

Maybe I should search for Barron's 2400 and check it for myself. So you guys recommend me to use Barron's 2400?

Not sure if Barrons is the best. I used it, found it great getting my practice scores really high 700+, come the day of SAT, results abominable. So unless my test was scored wrong, it didn't help me much.

Samiamy: What practice tests did you take? CB or Barron's?

On topic:

I had similar scores as you and I'm planning on focusing on the SAT over the summer for the October test. I plan on using Barron's 2400 in coordinance with the Blue Book and additional online tests.

For CRITICAL review which I mean like by June 2nd. Should I just use collegeboard SAT or Barrons or both?.. I dunno what to do.. im kinda zoned out after doing SAT for a long time yesterday and today.

Believe it or not did all 10 in the Blue Book, my first practice was the Jan 2007, got 1620 on that, worked like crazy doing Barrons 2400 the entire book and the blue book, was consistently getting 2200+ on practice tests, my May exam no change in my score, well maybe 20 points overall from the 1620. Frustrated is not the word for this.

i have that same problem

I guess I'm not the only one here having "that" problem. So maybe I should just continue using the blue book and Barron's 2400 over the summer? Btw, have you guys ever used Gruber's SAT?

Barron's 2400...more like a study book,not pracitce one
So,kinda like the first half in the blue book.
And,the math part is quite particular.if some one is not good at maths, the book would be benefit to refiew whole maths stuff we've learnt.
good luck everyone~
