<p>I wonder if part of the problem with all the disapointments with this process is 1) a misunderstanding of the " holistic" approach
2) a scewed view of where you stand NATIONALLY in your academics
The 3rd issue is that when colleges say they “lopsided” kids too. They really don’t mean that (IMO) unless you are “genius level” on that side. They really mean we want well-rounded kids with a particular interest in one area. I think confidential said it perfectly "holistic doesn’t mean lowering their standards). </p>
<p>However, as all the schools say “apply” take a chance…but make sure you have prepared emotionally for the high possiblities that you may not get in. And that goes for all applicants really.</p>
